Watch Michael Bay’s BLACK SAILS Series Premiere a Week Early

Longing for more looting in your life? Jonesing for Davy Jones’ locker? Are all of your hauls thoroughly un-keeled? Well, Starz is looking to change all that with Black Sails, its forthcoming Michael Bay-produced 18th century pirate drama, and they’re making the pilot available for free a week before its premiere. On January 18th, the network will offer the first episode on iTunes, Amazon, Xbox Video, and, for the first time, Machinima’s YouTube channel. The pilot will also be available to watch early through cable providers like Charter, Cox, Comcast, Dish, and Time Warner Cable, so check your local listings to be sure.

Starz is hoping this will help goose the numbers and aid word-of-mouth in advance of the series’ January 25th premiere, but something tells me that they’re not too worried about it. Just how confident is Starz that you’ll want to walk Black Sails‘ plank? They’ve already greenlit and started filming a second season, so you know you won’t be left shanghaied at the end of season one with nothing else to look forward to.

Having seen the first two episodes, I can say that I’m definitely on board for season one. Keep your eyes peeled in the coming days for more on the show as it develops. Will you be tuning in to Black Sails? Let us know in the comments below or shiver my timbers on Twitter.

I’ve watched the premier and give it 2 out of 5 stars. In my opinion there are things really off about this show. For me it’s too bright as if the show was filmed with the wrong type of lens…(if that makes any sense). So far for me mostly all the main characters aren’t believable except for Mark Ryan (Gates). This 1st episode was badly written in my opinion and I see this show ending very soon, but hopefully it’ll get better.

Great news. It will be nice to get the forward look and also be able to know that there will be a second season. Thanks!
