It’s going to be hard for Larry David to pass himself off as the ultimate curmudgeon after this footage of him completely losing it during SNL rehearsals showed he can laugh as hard as anybody.
In this outtake reel from Saturday Night Live, we get to see the many struggles of David to get through rehearsals of the “Kevin Roberts” sketch. If you didn’t see the actual sketch, you missed one of the best of the season (and that goes for the whole episode too).
David played an android in an FBI shooting simulation, distinguished by his bright orange suit and matching glasses, soul patch, and Zack Morris-sized cellphone. Nothing about Kevin Roberts makes sense as a human simulation. As Kenan Thompson’s character said, “I’m pretty confident that type of man does not exist in society; I mean, he looks like he came out of a 1980s computer game.”
I can honestly say that watching someone (sincerely) break when they are desperately trying to hold it together is one of the funniest things in the world to me. Getting to see someone like David, a person I can’t ever even remember having seen laugh, completely fall apart is even more hilarious.
You can’t even blame him though, can you? “Can a bitch get a donut?” Put it on my tombstone.
As for the actual sketch itself, he managed to pull it all together like a professional. Although, knowing what we know now, it seems like Pete Davidson was still fighting back the laughter a little.
I love everything about both of these videos. Everything. Besides just being ridiculously funny, it’s also cool to see the small changes that take place from the rehearsal stage to the live show.
What do you think is the funniest video of someone breaking? Share it below, because they are pretty, pretty, pretty good.
