Watch Garbage Perform “Push It” and “Empty” on Jimmel Kimmel Live

Fresh off a new album, Garbage continues to return to their roots. During Monday night’s episode of Jimmel Kimmel Live the band played “Empty”–their first single off of Strange Little Birdsas well as a classic single from 1998’s Version 2.0, “Push It.” You can watch “Empty” in the featured video above and “Push It” below.

As we mentioned in our album review, the songs from Strange Little Birds pay homage to the band’s first self-titled album from 1995. But Garbage also isn’t a band to shy away from throwbacks and live variations. Their recent revival of classics while presenting new songs from Strange Little Birds will be a major feature for their upcoming tour, which kicks off in July. If you do get a chance to see Garbage during this tour, you’re in for a treat. Since the “20 Years Queer” tour last year they’ve been playing around with beloved classics that they haven’t performed live for a while.

This live version of “Push It” is one fun updated instance–in a way it’s more raw and more like one of their B-Sides. The set addition of “Push It” for Jimmy Kimmel Live is a good sign that the band isn’t forgetting their other albums–Version 2.0 for instance was notably nominated for the album of the year at the Grammys in 2000. In addition to their 19 show tour across the U.S. and later Europe, they’ve also partnered with Pandora to release a curated playlist titled “Random Tunes to Move Through Airports To” with songs that reflect the vibe of Strange Little Birds. You can stream that playlist here.

Let us know below if you’ll be joining all the other strange little birds for Garbage’s upcoming tour? What’s your favorite song off the new album and of course previous albums?
