Watch FIST FIGHT’s F-Bomb-Laden Trailer, and More Movie News

It’s almost Friday, folks. So let’s start celebrating with a little gratuitous profanity, which is what we’ve got in the new red band trailer for the hilarious-looking Fist Fight. Also in today’s Movie Morsels: the IMAX poster for Kong: Skull Island, Liam Neeson‘s next action film, and oh so much more for you two-fisted filmgoers.

Fist Fight

I’ll admit that part of me, a part deep down inside, remains skeptical as to whether or not Fist Fight can possibly live up to the genius of its simple, primal premise: two teachers beating the living snot out of each other in the school yard. But that part of me has remained silent for all of the film’s marketing, including its brand-new, F-bomb-laden red band trailer that showcases its fine comic cast. Charlie Day, Christina Hendricks, Tracy Morgan, Jillian Bell, Kumail Nanjiani, and of course Ice Cube…it looks like every one of these talented folks will get a chance to shine in this romp…

Kong: Skull Island

There’s been a lot of buzz recently about how Kong: Skull Island channels Francis Ford Coppola’s masterwork Apocalypse Now in its depiction of Vietnam-era jungle warfare. That connection is most definitely the highlight of the film’s official IMAX release poster; which borrows not only the imagery of Coppola’s film but that of its own iconic poster (by famed illustrator Bob Peake) as well. Right down to the font of its logo…

Hard Powder

Liam Neeson

As in, he will grind his foes into HARD POWDER! Yes, Liam Neeson (pictured above in The Grey) is angry again indeed–and we love him when he’s angry! In his next actioner, he’s cast as “Nels, an upright snowplow driver, awarded a Citizen of the Year prize by his glitzy Colorado ski town, whose life is turned upside down when his son is murdered by a powerful local drug kingpin.” This leads of course to some Rocky Mountain revenge. The synopsis: “Armed with heavy machinery, this unlikely hero sets out to dismantle the cartel with extreme prejudice, and he’s not stopping until he gets to the top of the food chain.” Directed by Hans Petter Moland, the film culminates with “a turf war between a Native American mafia boss and the Viking, a fastidious gangster who wears Tom Ford suits, is a vegan, drives a Tesla and murders people.”

Man, that description. Shut up and take my money. Production begins in March.

Dune

dune-remake-112116

Though the 1984 David Lynch version of Frank Herbert’s Hugo-winning novel Dune has its cult of admirers, only the most starry-eyed of fans would argue there’s no room for improvement in another big screen adaptation of the science-fiction epic. So let’s hear it for The Arrival‘s Denis Villeneuve — the Oscar-nominated director has just signed on to bring the giant sandworms of Arrakis to life once more. The late Herbert’s son and co-author, Brian Herbert, broke the news on Twitter…
