Too Many Cooks. Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, by now you’ve probably seen the Adult Swim short film-turned Internet sensation, and the theme song probably hasn’t left your head since you saw it. But in case you have been living under a rock, here’s the basic gist of it all: Too Many Cooks is a ten minute long parody/mash-up of bad eighties and nineties sitcom opening credits tropes, seventies cop shows, weekday afternoon cartoons, cheap sci-fi shows, horror movies, and about a dozen other things joined together in a giant smorgasbord of insanity, directed by Squidbillies’ Casper Kelly.

It’s either the most brilliant thing ever aired at 4 a.m. on basic cable, or the most annoying, or possibly both.

So what happens when you get a bunch of senior citizens to watch Too Many Cooks to try and make heads or tails of what they just witnessed? Elders React, the YouTube show that gets a bunch a older people together to watch things that the younger generations are currently obsessed with and tweeting about did just that, and sat down a group of seniors who had never heard of Too Many Cooks to sit through it and capture their reactions. And if you haven’t ever seen Elders React before, it’s also pretty amazing — the Elders React to Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda video and the Elders React to the Fifty Shades of Grey trailer are both particularly priceless. So watch the video below of these lovable grandmas and grandpas looking perplexed…except for that old hippie lady. She seems to totally get it.
