For those of us who grew up on a steady diet of Brady Bunch reruns on a constant loop, we all remember the time that poor forlorn Marcia Brady got hit square in the nose with her brother Peter’s football, and therefore couldn’t show her face at the high school dance. It was the end of the frickin’ world.
But if you think that Peter Brady was scared of what his sister might do to him then, now he has a real reason to run and hide. Machete himself, Danny Trejo has been digitally inserted into the Brady household as part of Snickersâ recently released Super Bowl ad, which demonstrates what happens when Marcia Brady is having a low blood sugar moment. (But why the ax and not a machete, Danny??) And as usually the case in any given Brady Bunch episode, it’s the sage advice of Carol Brady that saves the day. Mike Brady is also pretty useless, but it’s still nice to see that legendary perm again.
This is easily one of the better examples of Snicker’s “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” ad campaign… maybe even the best one so far. Sadly, the eternally underloved and underappreciated middle sister Jan doesn’t get a Snickers bar of her own to satisfy her hunger, and therefore has to go through life looking looking like a certain famous character actor, currently most well known for playing a 1920s era gangster. I think that’s enough hints — just watch the commercial below.
What’s your favorite Super Bowl commercial so far?
You need to get Trejo on the podcast!!
