If you’re in the Los Angeles area Saturday at 2pm and want to do something Doctor Who-related (and who doesn’t), then please come out to the NerdMelt Showroom in the back of Meltdown Comics. Starting this week (Saturday, Sept 29th) NerdMelt will host a screening of a complete Classic Doctor Who adventure on the last Saturday of the month, brought to you by our friends at BBC Home Entertainment. And, fun fact, it’ll be hosted by your old buddy Kanderson. (That’s me!)
To start things off, we’ll be watching the First Doctor adventure “Planet of Giants,” which I’ve just recently reviewed for a DVD Who-sday post. It’s a very fun little story that began the show’s second season, all the way back in 1964. When the TARDIS lands with its door slightly open, a whole bunch of bad stuff happens, not least of which is that the ship’s size goes a bit screwy. Come and see the show’s very first Doctor with his very first companions in one of their strangest and most enjoyable adventures.
Trivia and costume contests will also be happening with tons of great Doctor Who prizes. Itâll be a TARDIS-ful of fun. We don’t mess around here, folks.
And the best part: It’s all absolutely FREE. Yes, you read that correctly; zero dollars to get in. What excuse do you have now?!
All the fun starts at 2pm (in the afternoon is what that means) this Saturday, September 29th, at the NerdMelt Showroom in the back of Meltdown Comics, 7522 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. For more information, visit NerdMelt’s website.
If you already love the Classic Series, if you only know the new stuff, or even if you’re just bored and want to hang out indoors for a couple of hours, all are welcome! Come by, enjoy yourself, say hi, and talk and enjoy some Classic Doctor Who before you go home and watch the current series’ fall finale!
-Kanderson hopes to see you all there! TWEET him, won’t you?
You’ll be happy to know that this is just the first of many of these we’re doing. They’ll be the last Saturday of every month! Hope to see you October 27th!
Please do this again!!!! I can’t come this weekend, but I would love to go if you do it again. 🙂
I wish more places did something like this. Classic Who needs to be available to all NuWho fans so they can fully appreciate the entirety of the Whoniverse!
