We’ve probably all played one of those little handheld puzzle games before, the kind where you have to safely steer a little marble through a maze full of holes. Well, those games were designed to make you angry and they aren’t any fun. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time with nothing more than a maze and a marble. Or rather, marbles plural, as in 100,000 of them.
This very cool, very noisy marble maze was created and shared by the YouTube channel Jelle’s Marble Run, who wants you to know that no neighbors were annoyed during the making of this video, since it isn’t as loud as it sounds.
The marbles used here are tiny, only 3 millimeters, or about an 1/8th of an inch, which is much smaller than your standard marble (16 mm, or 5/8th inch). The maze itself is made out of “glass sheets, acrylic cubes, wooden planks” and other items like K’NEX, but our personal favorite segment was when it looked like the marbles were traveling through Superman’s Fortress of Solitude.
Stick around until the very end of the video too, because there’s a full bonus shot of the “100,000” mosaic being released. When the wooden slat gets lifted and they come pouring out it looks like a volcano spewing magma, that then turns into a celebration of America. The marble mosaic itself took three hours to make (and the entire maze took about a week).
So yeah, a single marble in a maze isn’t fun, but you just need way, way, way more marbles.
But if you’re using 100,000 of them you definitely don’t want any holes in your maze. That really wouldn’t be fun.
