Warwick Davis Reveals His ROGUE ONE Role

Actor Warwick Davis has a very long association with the Star Wars saga dating back to when he was just eleven years old when he portrayed Wicket the Ewok in Return of the Jedi. As a nod to the young actor, the character of Wicket was even labeled as “Wicket W. Warwick” on many of the film’s original action figures and toys. After starring in Willow for George Lucas, Davis returned to the galaxy far, far away as an adult, when he played background characters named Wald and Weazel in The Phantom Menace.

After another extended break, he returned for The Force Awakens as a character named Wollivan, one of the many creatures in Maz Kanata’s castle. I’ve got to admit, when I had heard Warwick was in Episode VII, I secretly hoped he was playing Wicket again, and we’d find out the lovable little Ewok is now a badass Resistance pilot or something. Alas, it was not to be. In any event, we eventually discovered that Warwick will be back once again, this time in Rogue One.

Now thanks to Twitter (via Slashfilm), the actor has shared a few photos of his character, who appears to be an alien Rebel fighter of some sort. It’s probably a small part, but since this is a Star Wars film, you know that character will get a name, a toy, the whole enchilada.

After all these various parts in the Star Wars saga, Davis is thrilled to finally shoot a blaster (you can see him briefly shooting in the Rogue One commercial above). And you can see the photos of Davis in character in his tweets down below:

Are you glad that Warwick Davis still has a home in the Star Wars galaxy? Chime in with your thoughts in the comments below.
