WALKING DEAD VFX Reel Shows Off 5 Seasons of Awesome

As August draws closer and we are getting more excited for the premiere of Fear The Walking Dead, why not take a look back at some of the awesome moments from the first five season of the original Walking Dead series? Luckily the spin-off series will have visual effects provided by Stargate Studios, the same studio that has been providing them for The Walking Dead since season 1.

Just in case you need a reminder as to why that will be a big win for Fear The Walking Dead, check out the video below:

Set to “The Wretched” by Nine Inch Nails, this VFX reel from Stargate proves who the real stars of the show are. The video is a five-minute trip through the world of The Walking Dead and the crazy visual effects that Stargate has had to provide throughout. It is interesting to see how much more grandiose and intricate the effects have gotten season after season, and how much work they do that isn’t simply adding in the gore and violence involving walkers.

While the 3D modeling required for the super market attack in season four and the layers for the explosion in the season 5 premiere are obviously done through VFX, it’s interesting to see things that just don’t register as CG. Moments like the care tire spraying blood as it tried to drive over a walker, or The Governor burning down Woodbury, are surprisingly different when looking before and after.
