ABC’s Once Upon a Time finally has a presence in Disney theme parks. Costumes from the fairy tale series once appeared in windows in Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim, but Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando now has a more permanent Storybrooke tribute. As you walk along the streets that look like a studio backlot, you can pause to browse for any magical item you might need at the Mr. Gold Pawnbroker and Antiquities Dealer storefront. It’s not an actual store, but you can go window shopping and make a wish list. Just remember that everything you find in this store has a history.
When I visited Hollywood Studios last May, the only sign of this store was a logo on a window. The exterior sign was added by June and then the display was filled in with props inspired by the series. They could be replicas or back-up props made for the actual series–Disney doesn’t say. As you examine the images (there are more in the gallery below), you’ll notice some familiar objects. Glass slippers, potions, a mermaid crown, jewels, and Rumplestiltskin’s tea cups (they’re in the background of the above photo). If you want to see even more of the easter egg-filled display, watch this video from Crazy About Disney–you can see one of the boxes Regina kept hearts in, a Once Upon a Time storybook, and more:
Head to the comments and tell me which props you recognize. Also, who else wants to petition for a Mr. Gold/Rumplestiltskin meet and greet?
