Vertigo’s ASTRO CITY #32 Preview (Exclusive)

Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson’s anthology comic series Astro City may not grab quite as much attention as some other high-profile comics, but it’s been consistently excellent for over twenty years now, ever since it first debuted at Image Comics in 1995.

With Astro City, writer Busiek plays with and has examined the various tropes of superhero comics over the last several decades, including how the concept of the superhero keeps changing to fit the times. After their time at Image, Astro City was published by the Wildstorm imprint, and for the past few years has made its home at the Vertigo label at DC Comics.

One of the fan favorite stories from the original run of Astro City was “The Tarnished Angel,” which dealt with paroled super-villain Carl Donewicz, also known as Steeljack. He ends up investigating a series of murders in his own neighborhood, all former supervillains. Now, this newest story arc in the current volume of Astro City will follow up with Steeljack and show what the former criminal has been up to these past few years since that storyline wrapped up.

You can take a sneak peak at what’s in store for Steeljack as his world turns topsy-turvy once again, in our exclusive preview of Astro City #32 in our gallery below.
