For once, you’ll want shoes that (metaphorically) squeak, as Vans will help celebrate Mickey Mouseâs 90th birthday with a capsule footwear and clothing collection featuring some of the characterâs most iconic looks. Hot on the heels of the Vans and Disney collection which debuted in October, the apparel brand created a âMickey Through the Yearsâ line which will focus on — and showcase — memorable moments from the characterâs illustrious history, from “Steamboat Willie” to “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.”
The capsule collection features Vansâ original footwear model, the Authentic, with a print on the upper and the footbed featuring images of Mickey throughout the years holding…what else?…a birthday cake. The shoe is paired with a âMickey Through the Decadesâ long sleeve T-shirt and jockey hat designed with a gallery of Mickey images. Vans Customs will also offer fans the opportunity to apply the âMickey Through the Decadesâ print to their favorite Vans silhouette to celebrate the character in their own preferred way. (Unfortunately, “Mousercise Mickey” is nowhere to be found.)
Vans is just one of the brands offering Disney- and Mickey-themed garments to commemorate the characterâs 90th anniversary. Lacoste recently released a collection featuring both Mickey and Minnie on their classic polos and other clothing items for men, women and kids. Rag & Bone imprinted images and Mickey colorways on a variety of the brandâs signature clothing items including its RB1 sneaker. And ultrahip brands Opening Ceremony and Frank and Oak released limited edition collections featuring a variety of clothing items inspired by Mickey, the Mouseketeers and more.
The âMickey Through the Yearsâ collection will be available in Vans retail stores and online starting November 16th. Are you ready to turn your feet into a Mickey Mouse operation? Let us know in comments.
