In many ways, the Jurassic Park franchise is modern cinemaâs Jaws series, especially considering the first film in both properties was directed by a Steven Spielberg with something to prove. They both go from being one game-changing movie to a series full of lackluster sequels that never truly live up to the potential of the original. However, unlike Jaws, it seems Jurassic Park is poised for a comeback, and it starts with the release of Jurassic World – earthâs first chance to revisit the famed island where dinosaurs roam free.
However, since production began, thereâs been little by way of footage for the new Colin Trevorrow-directed film. Of course, we always knew that would change soon as the filmâs currently set for a summer 2015 release date, and change it will as the first trailerâs set to premiere this Thursday on NBC⦠but do we really think Universal would waste a great opportunity to build some buzz before then? Of course not, and thatâs where todayâs post comes into play as we have our first look at a teaser for the teaser. Check it out:
Itâs not a lot to go one, which isnât surprising as this is a teaser for a teaser, but from what we do see, we can say we like whatâs being brought to the table. This first bit of footage really feels like itâs channeling the Spielberg of the first film while still making itself stand on its own two feet. Whether or not itâs got any T-Rex teeth remains to be seen, however.
The full trailer is set to air during football on Thursday, which is Thanksgiving Day, you know.
What do you think of this first look at Jurassic World? Let us know in the comments below.
It looks like JP 2 & 3. Twenty minutes of set-up and ninety minutes of running and screaming. I will go so I hope I am wrong.
Not so sure about this…the title shots make me think of an old Black & White Noir film, while the overused CGI film makes me think back “wistfully” for the days before GCI everything and actors acting in front of green screens. I say…Fail!
I’m hopeful and excited for this one, but I was kind of bummed to see they made the iconic gate via CGI. It’s a little thing I know, but what can you do? CGI is cheaper now and why physically build something when you don’t have to, I guess.
Aaahhh, an excellent use of a John Williams theme for dramatic effect. I’m hopeful.
