Unbridled tenacity and a can-do spirt are the name of the game for former cult member Kimmy Schmidt, and it’s exactly that sort of adorable gumption that makes us so excited for Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s NBC-turned-Netflix series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Because at one time or another — admit it! — we were all a little bit Kimmy Schmidt-esque (minus that whole apocalypse cult thing. I mean one would assume).

Starring Ellie Kemper (because literally no other actress would do for this role, and that’s not so much personal opinion as it is professional science because have you SEEN Bridesmaids?) as the eponymous Kimmy, the trailer finally gives us a bigger look at the former Indiana MoleWoman turned big city dreamer and her new, nutty, and neurotic New York friends. From her roommate (Tituss Burgess) to her employer (Jane Krakowski), Kimmy is surrounded by a veritable smorgasbord of weirdos (after all, she does live in New York) that are sure to help her understand this brave new world that never went anywhere despite what her doomsday leader told her. Catching up to all that’s changed in the last fifteen years is no small feat, but if anyone can bullheadedly charge her way into the 21st century it is surely the woman who still gets excited about eating candy for dinner.
