Uh Oh, Will HBO’s VINYL Push Back GAME OF THRONES’ Premiere?

Alright, citizens of the Realm, hold on to your butts because this one might upset you, depending on how far down speculatory rabbit holes you fall. Because with the announcement of HBO’s forthcoming series’ premiere date (Vinyl), we may or may not have realized something that you might not like: Game of Thrones may be coming to us later this year than seasons past. CUE THE OUTRAGE!

Originally pointed out by those tried and true Watchers on the Wall, when we received the press release announcing Vinyl‘s premiere date—Sunday, February 14 at 9PM—we didn’t think much of it. But with a 10-episode order, the earliest Game of Thrones could premiere (it usually airs in the 9PM hour), would be the April 24. Although if they do not air an episode on Easter Sunday, that could push Thrones back to as late as May 1. Typically, Game of Thrones has always had a mid-April premiere (with the exception of season three, which debuted in March). But that doesn’t mean they won’t premiere Game of Thrones during that time anyway. A 10PM start time, mayhaps? Even if it’s a temporary time-switch, it wouldn’t be unheard of in the world of television.

Now, being that we’re sticklers for confirmations of things, we reached out to HBO to see if they had any information and/or comment about the potential conflict with Thrones, to which they said they don’t currently have any scheduling details about the show. So, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, now won’t we? (I know, I know—I hate waiting, too. Impatience is not a virtue.)

Whatever it ends up being, I’m sure ol’ GRRM will appreciate any and all stalling tactics provided.

How would you feel about a later—either in time or date—Game of Thrones premiere? Let us know in the comments below.
