Look! It’s a Sneak Peek at the Twelfth CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS Book

Since 1997, the intentionally-crude art style of Captain Underpants has inspired its pre-pubescent readers the world over—the series has been translated into over 20 languages—to believe that they too could draw their own comic book filled with poop jokes and that maybe their school’s principal has a bizarre secret life about which they don’t have a clue. It’s also made those kids—and adults who haven’t let the mean, boring world turn them into expressionless androids—laugh their butts off, because toilet jokes, especially Dav Pilkey’s, are always en vogue.

There have been 11 Captain Underpants books published so far, and on August 25, a twelfth will hit shelves, and it’s called Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir-Stinks-A-Lot. Pilkey gave Buzzfeed an exclusive first look at some of the drawings from the book, and from what we’ve seen so far, the new book is sticking with the series’ paramount traits: Gags about adults in their underpants, the linguistic mastery of George Beard and Harold Hutchins rearranging the text on whatever sign they can gain access to, and nostalgically named products like RID-O-KID 2000.

Check out a few of the images in the gallery below, and head over to Buzzfeed for a bunch more. Also, in case you’ve forgotten or it slipped under your radar, some welcomed news for underpants-wearers everywhere from early 2014: Captain Underpants is being adapted into a feature-length movie by DreamWorks, and the voice cast is shaping up nicely: Kevin Hart is playing George, Thomas Middleditch is Harold, Ed Helms is Mr. Krupp/Captain Underpants, Jordan Peele is Melvin, and Nick Kroll is Professor Poopypants.
