It’s Monday. Again. Since I’m yawning through my morning, let’s not waste any time. Raking in Numbers. The Walking Dead Season 6 premiere attracted millions and millions of viewers. That’s not anything new for the AMC series, but it did rank as the highest rated premiere for the 2015-2016 season among adults ages 18-49 and ages 25-54. The number? A not too shabby 19.5 million viewers. People apparently really like those walkers. [Comic Book Resources]
A Viking Maiden. The most recent episode of Doctor Who was the one featuring Maisie Williams as a viking maiden. “Maisie Williams as a viking maiden” is enough to sell me on watching just about anything. Under the Radar. New Fox series like Minority Report and Scream Queens have been making a splash, but Rosewood has been attracting the audiences to become Fox’s highest rated new series. As such, the procedural starring Morris Chestnut has been given a full order. This is where I admit I hadn’t really heard of this series until today and now feel compelled to check it out. [Deadline]
Cooling Down. Prepare to laugh a lot and then laugh some more because Season 2 of Comedy Central’s Broad City is coming to DVD. We shared the exclusive look at the DVD art on Sunday. It features Abbi and Ilana kicking back in Washington Square fountain, and I’d really, really like to join them. The DVDs will be available in January 2016. [Nerdist]
The Opposite of Defiant. If you’re a series on Syfy with a title starting with the letter “D,” you have good reason to be nervous. The network cancelled Dominion and now, they’ve also cancelled Defiance. The show will not return with Season 4 even though Syfy called it a “groundbreaking” series. It sounds like it was a matter of numbers. [Variety]
Clones and Ninja Turtles. Orphan Black co-creator Graeme Manson was joined by cast members on a panel at PaleyFest New York on Sunday. They dropped some vague hints about Season 4, mentioned the possibility of a video game tie-in, explained why the series is named Orphan Black, and Tatiana Maslany revealed which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character she would be–it’s Raphael. A Likely Negotiation. Crowley isn’t wasting any time trying to get in with Amara, a.k.a. the Darkness. He invited her to talk with him at the end of last week’s Supernatural, and in the upcoming episode “The Bad Seed,” they’re at the table, presumably discussing a partnership. I’m intrigued. Sharpen Your Crayons. All men (and women) must color, and a new Game of Thrones coloring book encourages just that. Penguin Random House is releasing an official coloring book inspired by A Song of Ice and Fire. The book will have 45 black and white drawings from known fantasy illustrators–they look made for colored pencils. The coloring book goes on sale on October 27. [Nerdist]
Home One Last Time. Are you ready to visit Downton Abbey for the final time? The PBS series will be back with its final season on January 3, and a new promo emphasizes the “final” aspect. It’s going to be an emotional few months saying goodbye to the Crawleys and their elegant home. [TVLine]
A Struggling Character. Fargo’s Noah Hawley is heading up FX’s Legion, the Marvel TV series about David Haller. Hawley spoke to TV Insider about developing the show and said it’s been in the works for a long time. He said he’s not a huge comic person but started thinking about the X-Men world and the storytelling potential and decided Haller would be the perfect character. He said, “What I really like about him is, here’s a character who is schizophrenic on some level, a character struggling with mental illness. Is he crazy or does he have these powers?” [Nerdist]
