Today is almost all about casting news. Shows are picking up guest stars and recurring roles all over the place. Keep reading to find out who has been chosen to play Wally West in The Flash, to learn about a diva possibly coming to Empire, to see photos from Season 2 of Gotham, and to watch an ominous trailer for the next season of The Leftovers.
A Villain’s World. Being a cop in Gotham City seems like an impossible task. You could correctly assume most of the general population is out to get you. A poster for Season 2 of the Jim Gordon/Batman origin series features most of the cast from last season plus new foes Theo Galvan (James Frain) and his sister Tabitha/Tigress. (Jessica Lucas). I feel tired on Gordon’s behalf. [/Film]
Another Day, Another Diva. Empire could be getting yet another familiar name for its second season. Direct Lee Daniels said Mariah Carey will have a role next season, but it’s not a done deal yet and Daniels wasn’t supposed to say anything in the first place. Oops. I am all about seeing whatever character Carey plays go against Cookie Lyons. [Vulture]
A Reunion. The Desert Wolf is coming to MTV’s Teen Wolf. They’ve cast Marisol Nichols (NCIS) in the role of Malia’s mother, and a reunion between the two is on the horizon. I admit that I haven’t watched Teen Wolf (yet), but I’m intrigued solely because characters have titles like Desert Wolf. It sounds fabulous. [TVLine]
Too Good to Be True. Prepare to head to Miracle, Texas when The Leftovers returns with Season 2 on October 4th. HBO’s released the first trailer for the season, and it shows the Garveys picking up and going to a place where there weren’t any departures. But, as you might imagine, not everything in Miracle is as rosy as it seems. I’m not so sure that the Garveys made the right decision. [TV Fanatic]
Another Speedster! Guys! Wally Westis coming to The Flash. Ahhh! Keiyan Lonsdale (Divergent) has been cast in the role. The Flash producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Just like when we met [series lead] Grant [Gustin] for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero; We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.” I got to know Wally West through Young Justice before I read comics featuring him, and I can’t wait to see how this version stacks up. Daddy Problems. Another item of note: Blaine on iZombie will be asking his father for financial assistance in Season 2. His dad, Angus, is a successful businessman who sees Blaine as a disappointment. If only Angus knew about the major cash Blaine was making as a brain seller! Anyway, Robert Knepper (Prison Break) will play Angus. [Comic Book Resources]
Dorothy and the Lion. NBC’s live take on The Wiz is gaining cast members left and right. They’ve just announced the name who gets perhaps the most important role: Dorothy. Shanice Williams will play the girl who gets swept away. You can see some of her callback audition–Williams first went to an open casting call–and watch her share the news about getting the part with her mom in the above video. Awww. And another actor has joined the musical too: David Alan Grier will play the Cowardly Lion. [Vulture and Variety]
Halloween Mysteries? Fox announced a crossover between Bones and Sleepy Hollow a little while ago, but the event was planned for later in the season. However, it looks like the crossover is scheduled for Halloween which sounds kind of perfect. Setting it up on a holiday that tends towards the spooky could give Dr. Brennan and Agent Booth a reason to be traveling through Sleepy Hollow. [Give Me My Remote]
Yay for Themes! ABC’s The Goldbergs has done a couple of themed episodes, and that trend isn’t stopping. At the Television Critics Association press tour, series creator Adam F. Goldberg said they’ll launch the third season on September 23 with a Risky Business episode, and there will also be a Short Circuit-inspired episode. [/Film]
Who Is He? We’re dying to know who Ian McShane is playing on Game of Thrones and without much information to go on, we’re working on theories and they’re related to the Tower of Joy. Oh yeah. Watch Jessica Chobot explain on Nerdist News.
Will you be tuning into the Sleepy Hollow and Bones crossover? Let me know what you think about the idea in the comments.
