We’re sending the week out with a bang. All sorts of news dropped at the Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour yesterday. Read today’s TV-Cap to learn about the premiere date for season six of Game of Thrones, the resurrection of Tales from the Crypt, where Jewel Staite and Summer Glau will show up on television this winter/spring, and more.
Mechanic to Inventor. The 10th episode of Legends of Tomorrow will unite the cast with the veteran of another favorite sci-fi series: Jewel Staite will make a guest appearance on the series as Rachel Turner. Rachel is an inventor and roboticist whose work the team must keep safe from Vandal Savage. Inventing is in Rachel’s heritage; she’s descended from someone in the DC Universe with a similar hobby. You Got It, Dude. I don’t need to know anything else about Fuller House other than the fact that Kimmy owns a cardigan with cats on itâthat’s perfect. Photos from the upcoming reunion series show the Tanner family and friends back together and looking affectionate. The sequel to the sitcom will drop on Netflix on February 26. A Way Around Death. Crystal Reed’s fan favorite Allison Argent was killed at the end of season three of Teen Wolf, but that’s not keeping her away from the show. She’ll return in the February 23 episode in flashbacks as Marie Jeanne Valet, the head of the Argent family line. There’s always a way around death, huh? [Nerdist]
Grab Your Mickey Ears. It’s time to celebrate the happiest place on Earth, and you don’t even have to leave your house. ABC will air The Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60 on February 21, and the special will be all about commemorating the 60th anniversary milestone with special to-be-announced guests. [Nerdist]
Almost Springtime. Winter is coming, and it’s coming in April. HBO has announced the premiere date for season six of Game of Thrones: April 24. Go ahead and mark that day on your calendar now so you don’t forget. [Nerdist]
Looking Sharp. AMC’s Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul will return for a second season on February 15. Who knows what sort of trouble Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy McGill will find himself in this season? He certainly knows how to run into morally compromising situations. But hey, at least he’s looking spiffy in new promotional photos! View more cast photos at Variety. [Images: Ben Leuner/AMC]
Mini Firefly Reunion. ABC’s Castle will feature one of the Firefly crew this winter: Summer Glau. She’ll stop by for an episode to play Kendall Frost, a Los Angeles-based private detective who will team up with Castle to solve a crime. [TVLine]
Tribeca in the House. Steve Carell stopped by the TCA press tour on Wednesday to talk about his new series Angie Tribeca. Starring Rashida Jones, the show is a police procedural and a comedy. He said, “It is broad but in broadness, there are all sorts of rules. Itâs always changing. Itâs a moment-by-moment decision you have to make. The whole idea is that none of these characters know theyâre in a comedy and we start from that.” Read more about Angie Tribeca right this way.
Once More into the Crypt. TNT is digging up bones and bringing back Tales from the Crypt. The reboot will premiere in late 2016, and M. Night Shyamalan will be at the helm. Tales from the Crypt isn’t all he’s doing for the network; it will be a part of a two-hour block of spooky programming from Shyamalan. [Nerdist]
Sad Trombone. We almost lived in a world where TNT was making a live-action series based on the Teen Titans. But alas, the news was announced at the TCA press tour with TNT’s president Kevin Reilly that Titans won’t come to be. Reilly said simply, “We just decided it wasnât quite where we wanted to go.” With all due respect sir, I think you’re wrong. [Variety]
Office Antics. What does an office look like in a world where superheroes and super villains exist? That’s what we’ll see in Powerless. NBC has ordered a pilot of the comedy series that depicts the lives of all the non-powered people residing in the DC Universe. I’m guessing they’ll have to set it in a hero-adjacent environment in order to make it different from your standard workplace show, like The Office. We’ll see what development brings. NYC Streets. HBO is getting animated. Animals, created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, will debut on February 5. The show is about the everyday lives and struggles of the much maligned creatures that call New York City home: the rats, the pigeons, the bedbugs. You know, every sort of critter humans try to eradicate. Rob Corddry, Mark Duplass, Molly Shannon, and more will provide voices for the cartoon. [Image: HBO]
