Today my heart is overflowing with emotions about Supergirl. The series just premiered on CBS, and I’m hopeful about where it will go. I’m also terribly excited to have a female-led superhero series on television. We’ve been needing that. Today’s TV-Cap has some news about a super villain for Supergirl, a clip for this week’s episode of Star Wars Rebels, a discussion of the recent crazy events on The Walking Dead, and more.
Not a Fair Fight. In season one of Star Wars Rebels, the crew defeated the Grand Inquisitor. However, he wasn’t the only Inquisitor. The next episode of the animated series, “Always Two There Are,” will introduce the Seventh Sister (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and bring back the Fifth Brother (Philip Anthony-Rodriguez). They’re skilled, and it looks like they’ll cause plenty of trouble for our rebels. [Nerdist]
A Season for Everything. TVLine has some ideas about what path the Gilmore Girls revival will follow. The series is coming back on Netflix (god bless you, Netflix) for four 90-minute episodes. It’s an odd format, but apparently, each episode will take place in a different season. So, the revival will cover a single year. I expect winter to be the most magical, given Lorelai’s history with snow. [Nerdist]
Exploring New Heights. Supergirl premiered on CBS on Monday and introduced the world to Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers. The pilot had some truly heart-lifting moments, and I’m so glad this series is on TV. Variety spoke with the show’s executive producers and Benoist about bringing Supergirl to the screen, and it’s well worth reading. The interview is right this way.
A Criminal Genius. And while we’re on the topic of Supergirl, Toyman has been cast. Henry Czerny will play Winslow Schott Sr., a.k.a. Toyman. He’ll be the estranged father of Winn and he “weaponizes toys to wreak destruction and revenge but is ultimately driven by one thing–the obsessive desire to reunite with his beloved son.” [Comic Book Resources]
We’re Still Looking. I regularly tuned in to watch Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? and like so many people, the theme song for the game show got stuck in my head for years. It’s still rattling around, so I feel pretty delighted to learn Rockapella is still together and singing the popular tune like nobody’s business. [Nerdist]
Behind the Fangs. Cartoon Network isn’t dumb. They know fans love Adventure Time to death. They’re steering into the fandom by releasing a new eight-part miniseries all about Marceline the Vampire Queen. It’s called Stakes, and it will air from November 16-November 19. The description has just been released: “Marceline the Vampire Queen wishes to be an undead, red-sucker no more, but can Princess Bubblegum concoct a cure? At the same time, five of Marceline’s most fearsome foes return from her past. What might her most powerful nemesis, the Vampire King, have in store? Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum and their friends join the Vampire Queen’s fight against her immortal enemies.” Oooh! [TVLine]

No One Is Safe. The Walking Dead went there on Sunday. Like, really went there. Glenn was attacked by walkers, and it looks as though he’s really and truly gone. Or is he? Dan Casey and Kyle Hill discuss whether there’s any hope for the character in the latest episode of Nerdist News.
No Detective Work Required. You don’t have to be a genius on the level of Sherlock Holmes to find places to watch the upcoming Sherlock special. It will air on January 1 in the United Kingdom and the United States, and “The Abominable Bride” will also be shown in over 500 movie theaters nationwide on January 5 and January 6. The cinema versions of the special will include 20 minutes of exclusive footage. [Nerdist]
Well, This Is Awkward. Francine West has returned to Central City and though she’s trying to connect with her daughter Iris, it’s not easy. And it shouldn’t be–Francine walked out and she’s been gone for a long time. A clip from this week’s episode of The Flash (airing October 27), “The Fury of Firestorm,” shows that Iris is all about the tough love. [Comic Book Resources]
