TV-Cap: New SUPERGIRL Trailer Shows Off Never-Before-Seen Footage

Despite being bombarded with promos, images, and teases, I occasionally forget about the amount of comic book-inspired series on television. Sometimes it seems like a dream. But it’s real and we’re getting a Supergirl show and life is great. Keep reading today’s TV-Cap for a trailer for Supergirl with new clips and characters, to learn about how Gotham is making improvements, to watch the women of Arrow in action, and more.

Not Just One Hero. Why is the premiere of CBS’s Supergirl over a month away? I need this series like, yesterday. A new trailer showcases never-before-seen footage and has clips of Kara in action and being generally amazing and gives us our first looks at Maxwell Lord and Reactron. Yeah, we live in a world where we’re getting a live-action Reactron. It’s all happening. Supergirl will debut on October 26. [TVLine]

Making a 180? Gotham returned with season two last night, and according to Sydney, the series made quite the comeback. Season one of the DC story definitely had some flaws, but they’re apparently adjusting course and making it better. Read Sydney’s review of “Damned If You Do” and then read an interview with Bruno Heller about the premiere and the season ahead.

Inside the Pages. Ever flipped through the pages of Cosmopolitan or a similar magazine and wondered about the people who make it? You can get some fictional answers about that very subject with an upcoming series picked up by NBC. The show based on Cosmo comes from Sarah Watson (Parenthood) and has a script commitment. Cosmo’s editor-in-chief Joanna Coles is one of the executive producers. It’s all about the staff of the magazine and their lives. [Variety]

And the Winners Are… Did you miss the Emmys on Sunday? Don’t worry — if you’re still catching up, we have you covered. Game of Thrones won a ton of awards, but it wasn’t the only star. Review the full list of winners right this way and watch the above video to hear Matt and Alicia discuss the highlights from the awards ceremony.

Hello, Dragons. Game of Thrones is packed with impressive achievements in the realm of VFX (it just won an Emmy for special visual effects), but perhaps the coolest effect of all has to do with the dragons. I don’t want to think about how much money is spent to make the creatures look like a natural part of the world of Westeros. The above VFX breakdown video from Pixomondo shows a little of how complicated it is to bring Rhaegal, Drogon, and Viserion to life. [Slashfilm]

Magic Ahead. When Once Upon a Time returns on September 27, things will be different. Emma underwent some rather significant changes in the season four finale, Merida’s coming to town, Camelot characters will be appearing — in short, there’s plenty to get excited about. Samantha has some thoughts about what you can look forward to when Once returns, and you can read them here.

Women Kicking Butt. Season three of Arrow arrives on Blu-ray and DVD today, September 22, and to celebrate, The CW released a supercut of the female characters in the series in action. They aren’t always written so well, but you can’t deny that they frequently kicked ass in the third season. [Comic Book Resources]

A Different World. It’s been years since the events of Heroes, and the world has changed. When Heroes Reborn returns on September 24, we’ll see what’s next for familiar faces like Noah Bennet and Hiro Nakamura and we’ll meet new people too. The cheerleader isn’t in the picture and in fact, a promo shows that an attack apparently killed Claire Bennet, which should be impossible. What do you think about this development? [Nerdist]
