TV-Cap: New STAR TREK Series Teases Logo and First Look

Upfronts are chugging along in New York. Networks are showing off schedules and pulling back the curtains to drop teasers, images, and anything that might help them score ad dollars. For CBS, this meant giving us a Star Trek tidbit. See the logo for the new Trek in today’s TV-Cap along with photos from the next Game of Thrones and pics from The Flash season two finale, get some thoughts about Supergirl from CBS’ president, and more.

It’s All New. CBS has released the official logo for their upcoming new Star Trek series. The first look tease doesn’t reveal much about the show slated for a 2017 release. It’s all about the logo and some vague space scenes, plus the emphasis on it being new. New adventures, new crews, new villains… you get the idea. I think the logo looks snazzy.

Sink Your Teeth In. Ready to bite off a chunk of Discovery’s Shark Week? The event will take place between June 26 and July 3, and the network has released the schedule and announced a virtual reality offering that ties into programming. Get the rundown at Deadline.

Same Station, Same World? Supergirl is flying to The CW next fall. While the show is still set on a different Earth from the rest of the network’s series, we’re still going to be getting a pretty major crossover: old friends Kara Danvers and Barry Allen will reportedly reunite alongside the casts of Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow ensemble in a four-way, four-day crossover event. [Nerdist]

CBS Says. Speaking of Supergirl, CBS president Glenn Geller talked a little about the show’s move. Though ratings came down over the season, Geller posited, “Who’s to say if we hadn’t made that deal that we wouldn’t have picked it up?” CBS said they would have considered a second season. To the Past! Titan Comics is headed into the pages of Doctor Who history; they’ll be focusing on the Third Doctor in a new ongoing comic book series. Writer Paul Cornell and artist Christopher Jones will spin fresh adventures for the Doctor, and the comics will start dropping in August. [Nerdist]

Run for Your Life. Zoom is challenging Barry to a race in the season two finale of The Flash. But it can’t simply be about speed alone, can it? First look photos show them taking their marks, and everyone around them looks concerned. More pics from the episode, called “The Race of His Life,” are at TVLine. [Images: The CW]

Love Connection. Tormund Giantsbane made some eyes at Brienne of Tarth when the warrior arrived at Castle Black with Sansa in the last episode of Game of Thrones. Dan Sackheim, director of the episode, told TV Guide it was probably a one-sided attraction but confirmed Tormund “had these amorous feelings for Brienne.” [Nerdist, Image: HBO]

Misleading? Sunday will bring us to the halfway point of season six of HBO’s Game of Thrones. That means something will likely go down in “The Door.” Pics from the next installment tease a Sansa and Littlefinger encounter and the return of the Night’s King. Hmm. See more photos from “The Door” and read Alicia’s thoughts about them here at Nerdist. [Images: HBO]

Dastardly Plans. Villains on The CW’s Wednesday night have been set on wiping out the world, but the most recent episodes saw our heroes landing a punch. Read our recaps of the latest on Supernatural and Arrow.
