TV-Cap: New SONS OF ANARCHY Clip, Kerry Washington Loves GAME OF THRONES, and a Legal HBO GO-ing?

Oh hi and hello, television obsessives! Lutie here with your Thursday edition of the TV-Cap, Nerdist’s one-stop shop for all the small screen news too tiny to print in at least 250 words. So instead it all gets stockpiled here, into one easy-to-read little column about what’s good and going on in the world of television.

Curious as to what you may have missed? Well then step right up and take a whiff: this TV stew is full-flavored (and super weird). Onward!

Spike on Mars: Spike TV is getting intergalactic, venturing out into the great wide expanse that is science fiction television because genre is the new black. As is the way things go these days, the network has decided to adapt the Kim Stanley Robinson Mars trilogy to create Red Mars, the series. These books are a big deal so no doubt the show will be as well. [Deadline]

New Sons of Anarchy Clip: Who’s watching the final season of FX’s Sons of Anarchy? (Alternative question: who of you out there love very dramatic and intensely violent television with compelling characters that make crazy intense choices?) This clip from the upcoming episode proves that this show is going to go out with a goddamn bang because — in the words of Jimmy Smitts — it just feels good.

Big Brother Gets 2 More: The CBS series, not “Big Brother” the omnipresent being tasked with making sure all of humanity stays in line. Yeah, the series that follows strategic garbagepeople doing serious strategery has been renewed for seasons 17 and 18 so congratulations! [The Hollywood Reporter]

Why Aren’t You Watching The Mindy Project?: No, seriously. For all its missteps in the seasons prior, Fox’s The Mindy Project is a consistently funny and delightful show. The characters are second to none — and not just Dr. Mindy Lahiri: Danny Castellano, Morgan Tookers, and Beverly, (just to name a few) are all very great, hilarious entities all their own — and the writing is knee-jerk in its haha-onslaught. The series has managed to average 2+ million viewers since its return which is just unacceptable. Between this and yesterday’s Big Bang Theory news my head is awash in confusion. [Pajiba]

Agents of P.H.O.T.O.S.: New images from everyone’s favorite Marvel TV show are on the site. [Nerdist]

Pilfer No More: Hey, look! If you’re a fan of doing things legally and independent of your friends/parents/rando acquaintances, this new AT&T deal may be for you! For just $39 dollars a month you could have access to HBO Go and Amazon Prime for all your small screen content needs. Never again will you have to go through the awkward process of not-asking but also asking what happened when someone’s password has changed, leaving you sans those final seasons of True Blood and Boardwalk Empire no more. [The A.V. Club]

Kerry’s Cuckoo for Khaleesi: OK I’m sort of obsessed with the fact that Momma and Poppa Washington were the ones who turned Kerry Washington, star of the equally-as-batshit Scandal, onto HBO’s Game of Thrones. Like, I imagine her parents are like most — all well-to-do and adorably charming in their relative oldness — but then turn into vicious, revenge-seeking nutters whenever that theme song begins. It’s a beautiful thing, really. As was the Game of Thrones-themed feast she prepared for her mother two years ago for Mom’s Day. Awww you guys! Isn’t that the cutest, most hilarious thing? I want to spend Mother’s Day at the Washington household, shoot. Just be careful of those pigeon pies.

Sidenote: I’M SO EXCITED FOR SCANDAL TONIGHT, YOU GUYS.

IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU LOOK AT THIS: Christopher Walken as Captain Hook, you guys. [Nerdist]

A Real Genius Move: …Or not. You know. Who’s to say? It’s so early still. But NBC’s decided that turning that Val Kilmer movie from the ’80s into a workplace sitcom is A+ programming strategy for them. So, you know! It’s a thing. [Deadline]

Popples. Yes, Popples: Netflix wants to make a children’s show based on the Popples toys from the 80s. I weirdly don’t hate this? Anything that’s not Teletubbies, I say. [The Mary Sue]

OK — who else here watches Scandal? Let us know in the comments.
