TV-Cap: New JUSTICE LEAGUE Series Confirmed, JESSICA JONES Takes Flight, and More

Last night was Tuesday night, and that means three comic book shows aired: The Flash, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and and iZombie. I know that’s been the regular Tuesday schedule since last year, but The Flash and iZombie only just returned and I was reminded about how cool it is for three vastly different comic book series to air in a single evening. Anyway! On to the news! Today’s TV-Cap has the latest teaser for Jessica Jones (it shows off another superpower), word on an animated Justice League series, key art for The Shannara Chronicles, and more.

A Single Bound. The new teaser for Marvel’s Jessica Jones is making me think of Daredevil. Remember when we got just a few motion posters for that series and one featured Matt Murdock standing in a street in Hell’s Kitchen? This teaser is reminiscent of that, right down to seeing the Avengers tower in the background. But the ending is something else. Jessica takes flight–or at least makes a super-powered leap–to the balcony outside her office. [Jessica Jones on Twitter]

Another P.I. Remember that we mentioned a Nancy Drew series is being developed by CBS? Well, the network apparently can’t get enough of female detectives. They’re also working on a show based on Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple books. It would be called Marple and would star a “much younger” version of the investigator. Maybe they’re setting up a world where Jane Marple and Nancy Drew can have crossovers? [Variety]

Warning: Spoilers follow for the Season 2 premiere of The Flash.

Slowing It Down. The Season 2 premiere of The Flash made me experience an unusually high number of feelings. From the events with Ronnie Raymond to Henry Allen—I couldn’t deal. Variety spoke with The Flash executive producer Andrew Kreisberg about Wells’ confession, Ronnie’s death, and more. Read the complete interview at Variety.

An Epic Scene. The Shannara Chronicles is going right for the epic adventure vibe in its key art. The recently released image for the upcoming MTV series features Wil (Austin Butler), Eretria (Ivana Baquero), and Amberle (Poppy Drayton) in a dramatic landscape. This is the trio that has to save the world. Based on this image, I’m utterly convinced they have it covered. The fantasy series based on a book by Terry Brooks will premiere on MTV in January. Special Agent. Season 2 of Sony PlayStation’s Powers is leveling up; they’ve added Tricia Helfer to the cast. The second season brings in a story from the comics by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming—a story about a murder—and Helfer will play FBI Special Agent Lange. She has a history with Christian Walker and will be investigating the aforementioned murder (I’m not giving away the name of the victim in case you haven’t read the comic or haven’t heard who dies). No Details, But… Details about Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival are locked down. Given that, we don’t know who Peter Sarsgaard is playing, but it looks like he’s joined the cast. The show doesn’t premiere until 2017 so it could be a little while before we learn more. Patience, Padawans. [Nerdist]

Fire, Kidnapping. Tranquil is never a word I would use to describe the plot on The Vampire Diaries. Things are constantly in turmoil thanks to the latest big bad bringing destruction and doom to the Salvatores and their friends. Photos from the upcoming seventh season tease exciting times for Caroline, Bonnie, Stefan, and Damon. The show returns to The CW on October 8, and you can see more photos at TVLine. [Images: The CW]

Cartoon Heroes Once Again. We’ve been hearing rumors that a new Justice League animated series was in the works, and Cartoon Network has finally confirmed its existence. In a Facebook message to The World’s Finest, Cartoon Network Canada said they, “will be premiering a new Justice League series, but not likely until next fall.” Then of course, they made a public statement on their Facebook page saying, “Hey fans, we at Cartoon Network Canada can’t confirm any information regarding a potential new Justice League series.” Oops. Maybe we’ll get an official announcement about Justice League: Action (the rumored title) soon. [Nerdist]

Werewolf Liaison. Brooklyn Animal Control doesn’t center on a typical department of that name. No, it follows a secret subdivision of the NYPD that deals with the city’s werewolf population. The story is based on a comic of the same name, and the lead has just been cast for the USA pilot. Stephen Graham will play John Crean, an officer in the department who is a “cop, counselor, and diplomat.” [Deadline]

Breaking the Wall. Supernatural returns with Season 11 tonight on The CW. Yes, Season 11. Why not prepare by looking at some of the meta moments on the road so far? Read this list of five of my favorites.

Are you looking forward to a new animated Justice League series? What other powers do you think Jessica Jones will have in the Netflix series? Talk to me in the comments.
