We don’t get to see new Game of Thrones episodes for at least six more months, but that doesn’t mean the series isn’t a hot topic. I feel like I’m discussing some theory or silly speculation with friends almost every day, and today, there are two juicy tidbits involving Jon Snow and Stannis Baratheon. There Is Another? Part of the fun of watching Game of Thrones or reading George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire is discussing theories and coming up with explanations to answer every question. Questions such as: Who will ride the third dragon? You have Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow (popular theory says he’s a Targaryen), but one person is missing. A new theory from Redditor ghostchief suggests Jon Snow may have a twin, and that said twin is none other than Meera Reed. Watch Jessica Chobot break the theory down on Nerdist News.
Just a Flesh Wound. Let’s keep the Westerosi fun rolling, shall we? On the topic of fan theories, some (like me) believe that Brienne of Tarth did not kill Stannis Baratheon in the Season 5 finale. Though Game of Thrones is ahead of Martin’s books, the author confirmed on LiveJournal (adorable) that Stannis is still alive: “In my books? Alive, beyond a doubt.” Now, whether that statement applies to the last time readers saw Stannis or in the pages Martin is currently writing is open to interpretation. [TVLine]
Drink It Up. Season 3 of Eli Roth’s Hemlock Grove will arrive on Netflix on October 23. The ten-episode season is the last for the horror series starring Famke Janssen. Set in a small Pennsylvania town, the often blood soaked show features werewolves, vampires, and a huge amount of bizarre happenings. Let There Be Light. Among the many characters The Flash is bringing in for Season 2, there is a source of light. Literally. It’s been rumored that Doctor Light would be coming to the show, and Twitter user Canadagraphs appears to have caught a set photo proving the character has been cast. The photo doesn’t reveal the front of the costume, but from what we can see, it looks an awful lot like Doctor Light’s wardrobe in the comics. Canadagraphs has deleted the tweet so I’m guessing we’ll get a casting announcement about Doctor Light in the near future. [Nerdist]
Saving History. NBC has committed to producing a pilot about time travel. Time, from Shawn Ryan (The Shield) and Eric Kripke (Supernatural), is a one-hour drama about “an unlikely trio traveling through time to battle unknown criminals in order to protect history as we know it.” [IGN]
When You Think You’re Out… I admit to not being caught up on Homeland, but as far as I can tell, the series involves a lot of double crossing, lies, and intense drama. That’s all on display in the over two-minute trailer for the upcoming season. Carrie Mathison apparently can’t catch a break. Season 5 of Homeland will premiere on Showtime on October 4. [/Film]
By Grabthar’s Hammer. I will never let go of an opportunity to mention Grabthar’s hammer. So with that out of the way, let’s talk about a television adaptation of Galaxy Quest. Paramount TV began shopping the TV version around back in April, and Amazon Studios has stepped up to the table and added the project to the development pile. Heretics Causing Trouble. Mystic Falls has a different kind of problem to wrestle with in Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries. You’d think that town would have seen it all by now, but no. Digital Hell’s Kitchen. When people think of visual effects, they usually consider the obvious ones. However, some of the best visual effects are the ones you don’t notice — bruises, city landscapes, blood. Marvel’s Daredevil featured a number of those key VFX, and Shade VFX executed them. What’s Real. Spoilers for Mr. Robot follow. If you haven’t watched the USA series through episode 9, you should stop reading now. Deal? Deal. The ninth episode revealed that Christian Slater’s Mr. Robot is actually Rami Malek’s Elliot Alderson.
