TV-Cap: Missy Returns to DOCTOR WHO, LUCIFER Gets a Pilot Order, Cast Expands for A.K.A. JESSICA JONES, & More

It’s the end of the work week, and it’s National Cherry Pie Day. How beautiful is that? While you sip what is hopefully a damn fine cup of coffee and dream about eating cherry pie (or any pie), sit back and catch up on television news from the last 24 hours because I have the highlights reel for you. See photos and a trailer for the last episodes of Mad Men, learn about Missy’s return to Doctor Who, and find out about new cast members for A.K.A. Jessica Jones and episode titles for Daredevil. Whew.

The End Is Nigh. Mad Men is taking the long way round its final season. The first half of season 7 wrapped last April and now the second half premieres on April 5th. There are only seven episodes of the elegant and often bleak show remaining, and AMC has released a teaser and a ton of photos from the end. PS: Watching Sally Draper grow up makes me feel old. From Board Game To Television. The Settlers of Catan is soon going to be more than a board and mobile game; it’s possibly headed to television and/or film. Yes, and/or! Producer Gail Katz acquired the rights to the strategy game, and I could see the island of Catan lending itself to plenty of drama and cool visuals. Also, this reminds me I need to download the game on my iPad. [Deadline]

She’s Baaack. In worlds like Doctor Who, characters rarely stay gone forever. The BBC has confirmed Missy (Michelle Gomez) will return in the two-part premiere of season 9. No, we don’t know when that premiere will air just yet. [Nerdist]

The Lord of Hell. The latest comic book to get the greenlight to go from the page to the screen is Lucifer from DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint. Fox has put in a full pilot order for the adaptation that will follow Lucifer, Lord of Hell, as he abandons his realm and throne and moves to Los Angeles (insert joke here about the similarities between Los Angeles and hell) and assists the LAPD. Cast All the Roles. Marvel’s A.K.A. Jessica Jones has quite the cast already, but three more characters have been added to the mix. Eka Darville will play Malcolm, Erin Moriarty will play Hope, and Wil Travel will portray a NYPD cop. Joseph has all the details on their roles here at Nerdist. And in other Marvel Netflix series news, we know the titles and director of the first three episodes of Daredevil. The British Board of Film Classification rated them and in doing so revealed the information. Phil Abraham is directing the first two episodes called “Into the Ring” and “Cut Man” and Adam Kane is at the helm for the third episode titled “Rabbit In a Snow Storm.” [Comic Book Movie]

Gimme a Slice. I don’t think anyone appreciates cherry pie like Agent Dale Cooper on Twin Peaks. Maybe I’m wrong though. If you love the fruity dessert, take a gander at Jenn’s list related to all things cherry pie for National Cherry Pie Day.

Moar Voices. The line-up for Marvel and Disney XD’s Guardians of the Galaxy keeps getting more impressive. They’ve been dropping announcements all week and the latest focus on Gamora, Yondu, and Cosmo. Vanessa Marshall (Star Wars Rebels) will voice the most dangerous woman in the galaxy, and James Arnold Taylor (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will play Yondu and Cosmo. I so appreciate that they’ve brought in actual voice actors for this series. [CBR]

The Hunt Is On. Sleepy Hollow actress Jill Marie Jones (she plays Cynthia Irving) has signed on to Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead. She’ll be playing Amanda Fisher, a Michigan State Trooper who has lost her partner and thinks Ash (Bruce Campbell) is to blame for his murder. [IGN]

I’m still thinking about cherry pie. Who’s having a slice today?
