TV-Cap: Michael Ironside Joins THE FLASH, SHARKNADO Week Schedule, & More

Sharks, zombies, witches, metahumans — sometimes I forget just how many genre shows are on television. It’s amazing I get anything done other than watching TV. Today’s round-up of news touches on everything in that list so keep reading to find out about the Sharknado Week schedule, Michael Ironside’s role in The Flash, and new casting information for Sleepy Hollow and The Vampire Diaries.

The Ultimate Food. Still catching up on Comic-Con news? Me too! What a coincidence. If you’re a fan of Nickelodeon’s Sanjay and Craig, you’re in luck because there was a whole panel on the animated series at the convention. Chris Hardwick voices one of the characters so he and other cast members did a live read-through of an episode, and they shared a clip from an upcoming episode. Sanjay and Craig is currently in its second season. Watch the clip above and read the panel coverage right here at Nerdist.

Bad Dad. The Flash’s Captain Cold and Golden Glider’s father will be joining the picture in Season 2. Lewis Snart sounds like a rather awful guy. He’s a career criminal, abusive, and cold-blooded. The apples don’t fall far from the tree, but at least we’ve seen a glimmer of compassion from the Snart siblings. The tiniest of glimmers, but still. Lewis Snart will appear in the third episode of Season 2 and will be played by Michael Ironside. [Comic Book Resources]

Villains for Mystic Falls. The Vampire Diaries has cast the roles of three villains for Season 7 because things can never be calm in the town of Mystic Falls. Elizabeth Blackmore will play Valerie, one of Lily Salvatore’s “family” members who is all about revenge. Scarlett Byrne and Teressa Liane will portray Nora and Mary Louise, heretics with strong magic. Evil girl power? Sold. [Variety]

Who’s Lying. It only takes five words to guarantee that I will watch something: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I find the comedic duo irresistible for obvious reasons. So, I happily watched them play “True Confessions” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and it was the best 10 minutes of my day.

The Pressure Is On. WGN America has announced the premiere date for Season 2 of Manhattan. The drama will return on October 13th. It explores the events prior to the first detonation of an atomic weapon, and the secrecy is weighing upon everyone involved in the project. WGN also released the first images from the upcoming season, and everyone looks paranoid.

Storybrooke Gets Cute. I’m convinced Funko Pop! is taking over the world. They basically have every franchise ever and that includes Once Upon a Time. The vinyl figures feature Regina, Rumplestiltskin, Emma Swan, Hook, Charming, and Snow. They’ll be available in October. See the rest of the Funko Pop! Once line-up right this way.

A New Face. Ichabod Crane’s ex is joining Sleepy Hollow in Season 3. Well, another one of his exes. Nikki Reed has been cast as Betsy Ross. Yes, the Betsy Ross known for making the first American flag. Reed will be a series regular, too. [Give Me My Remote]

Walkers Just Want to Play. A new poster has been released for Fear the Walking Dead, and it sets the stage nicely. In the foreground, two kids play basketball on a sunny Los Angeles evening. This scene happens all around the city every day. In the background, however, a walker is shambling into view. No. Thank. You. Fear the Walking Dead will premiere on AMC on August 23rd. Skinny on Extant. CBS’s sci-fi series Extant explored some big themes in the first season, and now in Season 2, the series is facing an upcoming alien invasion. With some different cast members and a change in story, it’s sort of a “soft reboot.” They discussed that and more during their panel and Comic-Con, and we have all the highlights right here.

Fighting Back. Los Angeles is just in trouble this year when it comes to television. Zombies are invading in Fear the Walking Dead, and in the USA Network series Colony, the future L.A. is an occupied city. It’s surrounded by a wall and strictly governed. The first trailer for the series focuses on Will Bowman (Josh Holloway) and the conflict he’s presented with. Colony is a co-production of Legendary Television and Universal Cable Productions and will drop on USA this fall. [/Film]

Fake Shark Stories Galore. I knew Sharknado was a thing. But I didn’t know there was an entire Sharknado Week. Syfy is embracing the silly concept and jumping all-in beginning on July 18th. Programming includes gems such as Roboshark and Zombie Shark among others. The movies surround Sharknado 3, which will air on July 22nd. Study the full schedule at Deadline.
