TV-Cap: Merida on ONCE UPON A TIME, THE WALKING DEAD Season 6 Trailer, & More

I’m still hung up on how many trailers and teasers and first looks were shown at Comic-Con. I’ve probably spent a solid hour over the past couple of days watching them all, and in case you missed them too, I’m sharing the highlights. Keep reading today’s TV-Cap to see a tease of Merida on Once Upon a Time, a trailer for The Walking Dead, a clip of Lady Gaga in American Horror Story: Hotel, and more.

Loosing Arrows. Season 5 of Once Upon a Time will be focused on Emma becoming the Dark Swan, but that doesn’t mean there’s no room for special appearances. It was revealed at Comic-Con that the first Pixar character will be coming to the fairy tale series. Merida from Brave will appear in the season premiere and somehow help the heroes with their new Dark Swan reality. Ahhh! Which other Pixar characters would you like to see in the series? [Nerdist]

On to Camelot. In other Once news, the show is also venturing to Camelot next season. The realm exists in a sort of floating universe that is separate from the timeline. We’ll see how that works, but for now, how about learning who will be playing Merlin and Guinevere? Elliot Knight will play the wizard, and Joana Metrass will join the cast as the queen of King Arthur. [TV Fanatic]

That’s One Way to Go. NBC’s already taken the possibility of future seasons away from Hannibal, and now they’re basically kicking the series while it’s down. They’re moving Hannibal to Saturdays at 10:00pm. And you would be right in guessing that time slot isn’t exactly made for drawing the maximum number of viewers. NBC is also shuffling Aquarius from Thursday to Saturdays at 9:00pm–keep in mind NBC’s already renewed the show for Season 2. [Give Me My Remote]

New Zealand’s Pretty. It’s time for another fantasy story set against the grand and sweeping backdrop that is New Zealand. MTV brought the first look at The Shannara Chronicles to Comic-Con, and I have to say that so far, I’m more into the series based on a book by Terry Brooks than I thought I would be. The 10-episode show will debut in January. [Deadline]

Finding Their Voices. Remember how Danger Mouse is making a comeback? BBC/Netflix are reviving the animated series, and they’ve recently announced some new cast members. Lena Headey will play U.S. Secret Agent Jeopardy Mouse, and John Oliver will play mad scientist and wolf Dr. Augustus P. Crumhorn III. [A.V. Club]

Falling Down. Outlander is an intense kind of show, but behind the scenes, the cast and crew seem like the type who like to have fun. The proof is in the gag reel. The footage shows laughter aplenty and fair amount of stumbling and getting hit in the head with things. Caitriona Balfe in particular seems to get knocked around a lot. [Nerdist]

Witchy Wins. WGN America’s brewing up success with their supernatural drama Salem. They announced at Comic-Con that the sort of historical series will be back for Season 3 in late 2016. [TVLine]

Swords for Hire. AMC has released the first trailer for their original series Into the Badlands, and oh boy, there’s a lot of sword fighting. The upcoming series (it will premiere in November) takes place in a twisted future where leaders of America have personal armies and members of those armies don’t seem to have any freedom. Daniel Wu is in the lead role and his character wants to pursue a different path. [Variety]

Checking In. If you’re ready to see what Lady Gaga’s American Horror Story: Hotel character will look like, prepare to be somewhat disappointed. A tease for the upcoming season shows part of Gaga–you’ll only get a glimpse at her hand ringing the bell on the front desk. It is one spectacularly bedazzled hand though. [Variety]

The Universe Expands. The world of Arrow and The Flash keeps extending, and it’s even reaching into animation. Vixen is coming to CW Seed on August 25, and the first sizzle reel for the animated series show how The Flash and Arrow fit into the picture. Megalyn Echikunwoke voices Vixen, also known as Mari McCabe, while actors from the live action DC series on The CW voice their usual characters. [/Film]

Us vs. Them. The most recent season of The Walking Dead brought the group of survivors to the Alexandria Safe Zone. We learned that just because it’s safe doesn’t mean it’s awesome, and as we head into Season 6, an us vs. them mentality will be explored. Besides that threat, there are Wolves howling at the door. The above trailer takes a look ahead. [The Hollywood Reporter]
