TV-Cap: Melissa Benoist’s SUPERGIRL Costume, Jada Pinkett Smith Leaving GOTHAM, & More

Like many of you, I stumbled upon the Netflix original series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt over the weekend and lost a few hours to laughing. It happens. The show has an offbeat tone I couldn’t resist, and man, it’s fun to encounter series that aren’t quite like anything you’ve seen before. Yay TV! Keep feeling excited because the latest and greatest in television news includes a look at the Supergirl costume, premiere dates for Hannibal and other shows, Gotham casting updates, and more.

A Super Suit. We’ve been hearing lots of casting news about Supergirl, but now it’s time to finally see the costume Melissa Benoist will be wearing in the series. The colors are more muted than I would like, but it fits in with the worlds of Arrow and The Flash. Costume designer Colleen Atwood did a wonderful job with the overall design. [Nerdist]

Premiere Dates, We Have Them. Summer isn’t terribly far away (thank goodness), and NBC has announced premiere dates for a handful of series that might be on your radar. Season 3 of Hannibal premieres on Thursday, June 4, at 10PM, and Season 1 of Aquarius (starring David Duchovny) premieres on June 4 at 9PM. Read about more of NBC’s summer line-up at Give Me My Remote.

Quiet on the Set. This year’s Oscars ceremony hit a few stumbling blocks, and there were times when host Neil Patrick Harris seemed nervous. As awkward as those moments were, they look more uncomfortable without any of the dialogue. A YouTuber removed the lines but left in reactions, and it’s… interesting. Watch the edit here at Nerdist.

The Avengers Win! Chris Hemsworth hosted Saturday Night Live, and in one particularly amazing sketch, he portrays a victorious Thor. The Avengers have defeated Ultron, and Thor is totally pumped. I desperately want to see this happen in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Read Clarke’s entire recap of the episode here at Nerdist.

Fish Mooney and Lucius Fox. It appears as though Fish Mooney will say good-bye at the end of Gotham’s first season. Jada Pinkett Smith told Extra, “We’re done, I did my year and I had a good time.” After that statement, Gotham producers said, “Fish Mooney’s storyline takes a lot of interesting twists and turns into the finale of season one of Gotham.” When one door closes, another one opens. Lucius Fox will appear in the penultimate episode of Season 1 and will be portrayed by Chris Chalk (12 Years a Slave). There’s no word on whether Fox will return in Season 2. [TV Line and Deadline]

Writers Without Fear. Daredevil drops on Netflix on April 10. It’s getting so close. After the entire season of the Marvel series premieres, The Writers Guild Foundation will host a panel on April 18 with the writers of the series. This means they announced the full list of writers for Daredevil so we know that Steven S. DeKnight, Christos Gage, Ruth Gage, Luke Kalteux, and Douglas Petrie are on board. [CBR]

Community-Selfies-03092015

Memories from Greendale. What happened behind the scenes of Season 6 of Community? The series returns on March 17 on Yahoo Screen, but you can get an inside look now. TV Insider gave Joel McHale a camera to grab pictures from the set, and the results make up the coolest photo album ever. Yes, ever. My favorite shot is the one with what looks like a room of frisbees.

What do you think about Jada Pinkett Smith leaving Gotham? Are you ready to see Fish Mooney go? Let us know in the comments.

  1. Meh. It’s certainly less annoying than the heeled porn version (worn by Carter Cruise — https://twitter.com/axelbraun/status/574137129065922561/photo/1), but I think they probably could have done away with the skirt and gone bodysuit
