TV-Cap: Kristian Nairn Talks GAME OF THRONES, More GOTHAM Villains On The Way

It’s the end of May, and the shows that debuted last fall are wrapping up. Tuesday night marked the end of season two of The Flash, and Wednesday (that’s tonight!) brings finales for both Arrow and Supernatural. We’ll have recaps later, but for now, enjoy a dose of television news. Today’s TV-Cap features an interview with Game of Thrones’ Kristian Nairn, an update on villains coming to Gotham, some Dark Matter casting news, and more.

Warning: This first blurb below contains some Game of Thrones spoilers, but it’s smooth and safe sailing after that.

Going Method. Kristian Nairn’s final scenes in Game of Thrones were intense—yes, I know it’s an understatement. The fate of Hodor was hard to film too. Nairn spoke to TVLine and talked about how much of the physicality of it was practical and how there was real blood involved. Read the complete interview at TVLine.

Wookiee Laughter. Candace Payne, aka Chewbacca Mask Lady, popped by The Late Late Show with James Corden and tried to teach him the joy of the electronic mask. Then, J.J. Abrams showed up. There’s a lot of laughter and cuteness, and we all need more of both in our lives. [Nerdist]

Huh. Transforming films into television series is the new black. And the latest focus? Get Shorty from 1995. Epix has placed an order for a 10-episode series that will be a reimagining of the movie. If we’re going this route, how about a Princess Bride 30-minute comedy series? That was a joke–no one get any ideas. [Deadline]

Stacking the Cast. BBC America’s spin on Dirk Gently has added some cast members. In addition to Elijah Wood and Hannah Marks, names such as Jade Eshete (Farah Black), Aaron Douglas (Gordon Rimmer), and Neil Brown Jr (Estevez) have been cast. Get a complete listing of new names at Comic Book Resources.

Real Places, Not People. See another side of our country in Hidden America with Jonah Ray. It’s a parody travel series coming to Seeso on June 2. Ray travels to actual locales throughout the country, but the people he encounters? Not so legitimate. You can get an idea of the tone in the above trailer. [Nerdist]

Potente Potential. Syfy has added Franka Potente to season two of Dark Matter. She has a recurring role as Commander Shaddick, Chief Inspector of the Galactic Authority Serious Crimes Division. Whew. That is a Daenerys Targaryen-esque title. [Deadline]

More, Somehow. Fox’s Gotham seems to have about a million villains. Season two was even subtitled “Rise of the Villains” and “Wrath of the Villains.” But there are more! Series executive producer John Stephens called out a few season three villains by name: Mad Hatter, Tweedle Brothers, Court of Owls, Talon, and Solomon Grundy. Who can keep up? Read Blair’s thoughts on each of the villains right this way.

Everyone’s Biting It. Robert Kirkman appeared at Amazing Hawaii Comic Con over the weekend, and when a young fan asked about which characters are going to die in The Walking Dead, he basically said everyone. Skip to the 3:55 mark in the above video to see Kirkman list all the main characters. I like Kirkman’s approach to a question he probably gets regularly. [Nerdist]

Hunter Celebrations. Supernatural’s season 11 finale is upon us. Crazy, right? After you watch the Winchesters and god battle the Darkness, browse the latest Home Geekonomics to find some Supernatural-inspired handmade goodies.

Timeline Antics. Barry Allen battled Zoom again in The Flash finale, but was he more successful at taking down the evil speedster this time? You know the answer if you watched the episode, and you can relive the action with Joseph’s recap of “The Race of His Life.”

Which villains do you want to see in Gotham? At this point, it might be easier to say which villains you don’t want to see. Talk to me in the comments.
