San Diego Comic-Con is nerd mecca but much about the event involves stressâfrom getting tickets, to scoring a place to sleep, to seeing panels. But fear not, Syfy will be broadcasting live from the convention and you can catch up with them instead of going, maybe? Read today’s TV-Cap to find out about that, to learn about the Animaniacs going on tour, to see the Game of Thrones opening credits in a different way, and more.
The Catchiest Tunes. Animaniacs came with a long list of songs meant to get stuck in your head. Children of the ’90s can probably belt out more than a few of them to this day. They’ll be able to test their memories by attending an upcoming Animaniacs musical tour. Yep! The voice actors who play Yakko, Wakko, and Dot will be headed through different stops around the U.S. with a live orchestra. Rob Paulsen (Yakko) broke the news to the New York Times. Stay tuned for dates! [Nerdist]
No Spoilers. Orphan Black’s Kristian Bruun stopped by Nerdist, and since Orphan Black is tricky to discuss because of all the spoilers, sweetie, he danced around it. Bruun rose to the challenge of teasing and there’s also singing and dancing. [Nerdist]
A Different Tone. Luke Cage’s executive producers Cheo Hodari Coker joined the crowds attending the premiere of Captain America: Civil War this week and took a minute to talk with Entertainment Weekly about Luke Cage. Coker said they want the series to be The Wire of Marvel television, which means a heavier tone. Read all of Coker’s comments here at Nerdist.
Consequences. The death of a certain character on The CW’s Arrow is going to have repercussions; it will certainly influence Felicity. Series executive producer Marc Guggenheim told TVLine that the next episode will reveal which decision Felicity will be reversing–she’ll either rejoin Team Arrow or get back together with Oliver. All About the Money. AMC is bringing together Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie in an intense looking six part show, and we should all count our lucky stars. A new extended trailer for The Night Manager shows all sorts of drama is present in this adaptation of the espionage novel by John le Carré. The Night Manager miniseries will debut on April 19.
Live from San Diego… Syfy announced they’ll be hosting a live broadcast nightly from July 21-July 23 from Comic-Con. Syfy Presents Live From Comic-Con will cover breaking news, behind-the-scenes reports, party coverage, and celebrity interviews. If you’re not attending the convention, this could supplement your digestion of articles and panel videos so you can get the complete experience without the oppressive crowds. [Deadline]
Explore Westeros. The Seven Kingdoms look mighty beautiful in the opening credits for HBO’s Game of Thrones. If you’ve always wanted to get a closer look at the clockwork-like map, you can with a new 360 degree video shared on Facebook. Set aside some time today to look around–it’s easy to get lost in it. Perks of the Job. President Obama has a lot of responsibilities, but his role comes with some benefits. For example, he gets to ask for and receive advance copies of Game of Thrones. Series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss shared the tidbit during the Game of Thrones season six premiere event and said that was their “aha” moment about the show’s popularity. Weiss said, “I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an ‘aha’ moment.” Ya think? [Nerdist]
She’s Not So Happy. The 100’s Octavia is the very definition of fierce. And these days? She’s turning a lot of that spirit towards her brother Bellamy. He’s paying for his dumb decision to side with Pike, and she has every right to be ticked. Watch them discuss the issue at hand in a clip from Thursday’s The 100 at TVLine.
