Turning 29/31Years Old Is A Scream For Garfunkel And Oates

Hey there single ladies looking for love in your late 20’s, it’s all great, isn’t it? Your options are endless! You can make choices about what you want in love (and life), and you wouldn’t even consider the possibility of thinking about settling.

Hey there, single ladies looking for love in your early 30’s, Garfunkel And Oates are so, so sorry.

That’s the takeaway from “29/31,” this darkly funny song by the comedy duo of singer-comedians Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome. In just one short little song, the pair capture the frustrations of crossing the big 3-0 line and dating while still trying to maintain your sanity.

The clip is from the pair’s new IFC series as one of a series of video cards from Garfunkel And Oates about love and life. Think of them as twisted, sad, unfortunately true Hallmark messages from two sharply in-touch women.

Haven’t caught the show yet? The series wraps Micucci and Lindhome’s stage act around narrative bits – similar to their short-lived short series on HBO. We had a look at the gleeful opening sequence for the series, which is full of pep (and I would go so far as to say vim and vinegar).

The series’ second episode, “Rule 34,” airs this week and introduces the ladies to one of the Internet’s worst rules as they have to confront their pornographic doppelgangers along with a corporate gig that goes from bad to worse. And hey, our own Chris Hardwick is co-starring, along with Tig Notaro, John Oates (!!!) and Chris Parnell.

Garfunkel And Oates airs Thursday nights at 10 on IFC.
