TRUE DETECTIVE Done LAW & ORDER Style

This is pretty amazing, and amazingly accurate. YouTube user Popped Culture has made a shot-for-shot recreation of the Season 4 Law & Order opening titles, but for HBO’s dark, ethereal True Detective. In lieu of splitting up the cops and district attorneys, since the drama starring McConaughey and Harrelson doesn’t feature any dumb lawyers, this version shows us our main characters in the past and in the present. That’s pretty clever, though I feel like they may have missed a trick not having Kevin Dunn or Paul Ben-Victor’s angry police captains, or either of the present-day investigators, in the thing. Still, the use of the stripper’s American flag unitard is pretty genius.

For a fun comparison, here’s the actual L&O opening title sequence, to give you an idea of how spot-on it is.

True Detective‘s finale is this Sunday on HBO. Share some of your #TrueDetectiveSeason2 ideas below. Yeah, they’re funny.

  1. Paul King says:

True Detective makes Law and Order look extremely sanitized. It isn’t boundaried by stupid network censorship so they can get more deeply into real human behavior. Law and Order is like an idea of gritty but True Detective is the real thing.
