Is it possible weâll need to power-up our com-put-ers for another TRONÂ film? After Disney decided against moving forward with TRON 3 earlier this year, it looked like the franchise would never become a trilogy, but now Garrett Hedlund, star of the second film, 2010âs TRON: Legacy, says he does not believe that another film is âtotally dead.â
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Hedlund said he thinks there is still a chance Disney will give a go-ahead for the next movie, though he has no idea when that would be. Originally, the third TRONÂ film (possibly titled TRON: Ascension) was supposed start filming next month, but Disney cancelled production.
It was just this past July that Bruce Boxleitner announced he was done with the TRON franchise for good. âIâm done with it. Iâve moved on. I hate to say that but itâs been too up and down for me. I would rather not just keep going. I donât want to repeat my career anymore,â he said.
Hedlund was already set to return for the next movie, along with Olivia Wilde. Disney has been slightly busy with its newest property, a little known franchise called Star Wars, but considering the original film was released in 1982, maybe the next film could be released in 2050.
This might not be a lot to go on, but fans of the films will certainly be glad to hear that someone is out there still pushing and keeping alive the hope that another movie will be made.
