All of Your Internet Boyfriends Star in the First TRIPLE FRONTIER Trailer

Pop culture drug cartels are so hot right now. Think TV shows like Ozark and Narcos, or movies like Sicario. All critically acclaimed, all very dark, all very serious. There’s a certain art that goes into a high-quality cartel story, and we’re not really sure if Netflix‘s upcoming film, Triple Frontier, will have what it takes to rise above. What we do know is that the cast is extremely strong and extremely yummy and this trailer is very good at capturing our attention.

Triple Frontier stars Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Garret Hedlund, Charlie Hunnam, and Pedro Pascal. That’s a stellar lineup beyond the very surface-level prettiness on display in the trailer. The group play a team of ex-US Special Forces who plan a heist against a South American drug lord, to “cripple the world’s most violent cartel.” The mission is also personal for the former soldiers, who risked their lives in combat but still face lives of hardship. “You’ve been shot five times for your country, and you can’t even afford to send your kids to college,” Isaac’s Santiago “Pope” Garcia tells Affleck’s Tom “Redfly” Davis. “The question is: ‘Do we finally get to use our skills for our own benefit?'”

The film re-teams director J.C. Chandor and Isaac, who worked together on 2014’s A Most Violent Year. Chandor also wrote the screenplay with Mark Boal, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty. With a pedigree like that, we have a feeling this could be something special. At the very least, it will be fun to watch all of our Internet boyfriends – including real-life BFFs and Star Wars bros Isaac and Pascal – in one place.

Triple Frontier hits Netflix in spring 2019.
