TRANSFORMERS Spinoff and Sequel Recruits Robert Kirkman and More

In an attempt to reinvigorate the Allspark of its flagship franchise, Paramount is putting together a “writer’s room” of sorts in order to generate ideas for Transformers sequels and spinoff films based on the mega-popular franchise. Transformers producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Michael Bay, and Steven Spielberg tapped Akiva Goldsman to head up the creative cabal, and now it seems that have filled out the rest of its ranks with a murderer’s row of sci-fi and genre talent.

According to Deadline, the roster will be split into four different teams, with each team supposedly working on a separate Transformers-related project. Among the names on the roster are The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, Pacific Rim 2′s Zak Penn, Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Jeff Pinkner, and Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Though these deals are not locked in place and more will be joining the group, it is certainly an auspicious alliance of creative talent who will be joining Goldsman to carve out the franchise’s future.

Considering Transformers: Age of Extinction made more than $1 billion worldwide and became the highest-grossing release of all time in China, it’s no small wonder that they are pumping so much time, energy, and energon cubes into this franchise. Here’s hoping that they’ll adapt our pitch for Transfurious.
