Sam Claflin’s making the rounds, post-Hunger Games, with an all-new haircut in The Quiet Ones, a new movie set for an April 25th opening, and which looks like The Conjuring-meets-The Brady Bunch wardrobe department. In it, a university student and some classmates are recruited in an experiment to create a poltergeist. If they didn’t realize that’s sinister in and of itself, the presence of Jared Harris at the helm – enlisting his deft Morarity evilness – should have been a pretty good tipoff. Their subject: an alluring, but dangerously disturbed young woman. As the experiment unravels along with their sanity, the rogue PHD students are soon confronted with a terrifying reality – they have triggered an unspeakable force with a power beyond all explanation. Creepiness factor hovers at the high end of the spectrum, not least of all as a result of bad ’70s hair all around.
