If you were thinking to yourself, “Hmmm, doesn’t seem like I’m gonna spend a whole lot on exclusive toys this year at Comic-Con,” here comes Toys R Us to prove you dead wrong. Setting up shop, as usual, in the Entertainment Earth booth (#2343) from Wednesday, July 19 – Sunday, July 23, the toy retail giant will also be making some of this year’s merchandise available online during the convention at Toysrus.com/ComicConvention. Be sure to read the fine print, though: some of these will be available in Toys R Us stores later in the year, but not all!
We’re here to break it down for you. As announced Thursday morning on Toys R Us’s blog, the offerings kick off with a Madam Alexander doll that will NOT be available online, but will be at the con and in stores later in the year. This Marvel Fan Girl is Black Panther inspired, with an outfit full of nods to her favorite hero.
Available at the con and online during the con, but NOT currently scheduled for release in stores, you’ll find: a Spider-Man Mini-Mates exclusive set of Spidey with burger and soda versus Adrian Toomes sans Vulture suit; a five-pack of translucent Power Rangers capsule figures; hooded Ruby Rose from RWBY; a four-inch gold diecast Spider-Man; and an exclusive Scott Pilgrim Funko POP:
And that’s not to mention the WWE action figure you probably thought you’d never see. Before Kane became the pyromaniac brother of the Undertaker and winner of multiple championships, he had the persona of Jerry Lawler’s evil dentist. Yep, that’s right: Isaac Yankem, DDS, is finally getting immortalized in plastic!
As far as exclusives that will be available during the con, AND online, AND later in the year in stores, we’re looking at some pretty big-deal items. Like five die-cast Voltron lions that combine to form an 8-inch Voltron:
In keeping with the big transforming robot theme, there’ll also be a Masterpiece (MP10 version) Optimus Prime, complete with Spike Witwicky, Matrix of Leadership, trailer, ax and more.
Do you like Marvel Legends? How about six of them? Singularity, She-Hulk, Lady Loki, Elsa Bloodstone, Monica Rambeau, and Sif make up the A-Force box set, which should ensure your comic-loving kids will have plenty of female characters to add to the mix.
From the Star Wars Black Series, we’ll also be getting a Clone Commander Gree figure (Kashyyyk, Revenge of the Sith), and of course since all of us love POP Vinyls here’s another one–X-23!
You can check out a great many more photos below, and start planning now which you need to grab in person, which ones your friends need to try to grab for you online, and which ones can wait till you’ve saved a little more spare cash. Because if you’re like us, you want pretty much all of them, but pacing ourselves is key.
