One of the reasons that Marvel Studios and Sony had to quickly decide that Tom Holland would be the next Spider-Man is because heâs making his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut during Captain America: Civil War. And the studios apparently wasted little time getting Holland in front of the cameras!
The recently-announced screenwriters of the Spider-Man reboot, John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, have revealed that Holland already filmed his part in Civil War, and the new Spider-Man costume has also been finished. Goldstein noted that the duo is going to view the footage at Marvel Studios this weekend.
âWe hear good things,â said Goldstein. âWe might even get to look at the Spidey suit, which is exciting.â
Daley and Goldstein also threw shade on the supposedly leaked cast list from Spider-Man, which included Robert Downey, Jr., Hugh Laurie, Forrest Whitaker, Billy Zane, and Jason Biggs, among others.
âWeâve discussed certain characters, but nothing is certain yet, for sure,â related Daley.
Of course, Daley and Goldstein would probably say the same thing  even if the list was legitimate. But weâll know for sure if Iron Man shows up on the set and Scorpion sticks his tail into some fresh apple pie.
Captain America: Civil War features a huge cast that includes Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. along with Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Frank Grillo, and Daniel Brühl. It will be released on May 6th, 2016. The Spider-Man reboot will swing into theaters on July 28th, 2017.
