Tom Hiddleston Plays a Vampire in New Jim Jarmusch Movie

Calm down, the internet. I imagine the headline produced a worldwide collective swoon, and for good reason: acclaimed indie filmmaker Jim Jarmusch has directed a vampire movie! Oh, and Tom Hiddleston’s in it and plays a long-haired creature of the night. A tossup as to which people are more excited about, I’m sure.

The film is called Only Lovers Left Alive, and it follows Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton as two Goth bloodsuckers who have been in love for centuries and begin to have a bit of strife. Mia Wasikowska, John Hurt, Anton Yelchin, and Jeffrey Wright also star in the film, which will be released (limited, I’m sure) on April 11th, 2014 here in the US. Below you can watch a very brief teaser for the movie, which premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and was screened at the Toronto, New York, and BFI London Film Festivals, among others.

I’m assuming there will already be a billion tumblr gifs regarding this, but hey, why not some more? Let us know what you think below. I’ll set up a digital trough to collect all the pixelated drool.

Sounds like Jim Jarmusch is still into the whole heavy ambient guitar music scene. Works so super well in his movies. It’s an ironic shift in this era when his former style of vintage hipster-cred-filled soundtracks has become so ubiquitous.

Did this get pushed back to April? Everywhere I see it still has a February 21st release date.
