It’s been nearly 30 years since Big, the 1988 film in which Tom Hanks plays a 12-year-old-boy who wished to be 30, was released, so the timing feels right for a reboot. The actor turned 60 this summer, and last night, he was a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a show whose host always seems down for a good sketch.

In the skit, Hanks reunites with Zoltar—the character from the arcade fortune telling machine who initially granted his wish (and therefore 18 years of aging) in the film—this time played by Colbert. This time, though, the tables are turned for Hanks: Reflecting on his ever-advancing age, he wants to be younger this time: re-living 30 sounds pretty appealing to him. Zoltar asks, “But don’t you remember the heartwarming lesson you learned last time?,” to which Hanks responds, “Yeah. I learned that being older isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. A lesson I’m constantly learning, every day, at my age.”

Last time, a quarter was enough of a fee to get the job done, but it’s not 1988 anymore and Hanks can do better than that, so the toll this time is his eternal soul. Sadly, that’s a bill he can’t pay, since he already “sold it to raise money for That Thing You Do.”
