Tom Cruise Takes Down Alien Organisms In Extended EDGE OF TOMORROW Trailer

One of the larger “dark horse” blockbusters coming up this summer is Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow. With no masked superheroes to fall back on, all the All You Need Is Kill adaptation can do is rely on the charisma of Cruise, his decked out mech suit, and the fascination surrounding the live-die-live again premise. Thus far, many of the trailers to come out for the film have had a bit of a tough time breaking down the internal logic of the film and how the rest of the world shapes up around Cruise and his co-star, Emily Blunt. Luckily for us, that changes today with an all new extended trailer for the sci-fi actioner:

Okay, now we’re getting somewhere.

So this organism the humans are fighting are the ones with the time reversal ability, and somehow Cruise has obtained that ability. How did he do that? Who the hell knows, that’s why we go see the movie. But, a lot of things are clearer now about how Cruise and Blunt will work together to eventually win the battle they keep losing.

Much of the marketing has made it seem like the plot was going to be Cruise learning more and more until he was able to just walk through the battlefield and save the day. Now it feels more like his lessons will build to a solution wrapped inside a mystery, rather than brute force. Sounds good to us.

Edge of Tomorrow hits theaters June 6th.

Looks better than Oblivion, that’s for sure.
I can’t look at Bill Paxton in that uniform without hearing him say, “Good morning, turdbrain!”

  2. Looks like this is going to be an EXCELLENT adaptation of “All You Need Is Kill.” I didn’t think they could do it, but they’re doing justice to Sakurazaka’s novel! Can’t wait!!

Can we just collectively agree to call this Battlegroundhog Day?
