TNT Orders SNOWPIERCER Pilot, SUPERGIRL Crossover Poster, and More TV News

A renewal, a pilot order, casting news—it’s a day of variety here in TV-Cap Land. TNT has a Snowpiercer pilot on the way, Supergirl shines in a poster for the upcoming Arrowverse crossover, Netflix’s added some cast to their adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, and that’s just a taste of the television news awaiting you.

Back to the Train. The film Snowpiercer was captivating–hard to watch and bleak yes, but captivating. The movie directed by Bong Joon-ho was adapted from a graphic novel by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette, and now it’s possibly heading to TV. TNT has ordered a pilot for a series based on the film, actually, with Josh Friedman on board as executive producer, showrunner, and writer. What would you like to see done differently in a possible television series? [Variety]

Dominators Arrive. I feel like I’ve mentioned this a lot lately, but in case you’ve missed it, the four night Arrowverse crossover begins on November 28. Supergirl leads the charge, and Kara gets a fancy poster for the occasion showing Martian Manhunter at her side and a Dominator in the background. And is that a dimensional portal on the right? Renewed. This one’s for you, fans of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. BBC America has renewed the show for a second season. [TVLine]

Laughs for All the People. Dave Chappelle’s coming back to the world of comedy in force. He recently hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time, and he’s set to do three specials for Netflix. Two of the three stand-up comedy specials have already been filmed, and the third one is in the works. All three specials will drop on Netflix on the same day (to be announced) in 2017. [Nerdist]

Streaming in Twin Peaks. If you haven’t seen Twin Peaks, prepare to scratch your holiday plans because Showtime is here to help. As of December 26, Showtime is making the first two seasons of the mystery available on Showtime Streaming Service, Showtime On Demand, and Showtime Anytime. [Entertainment Weekly]

Meta Ad. Given the subject matter of Black Mirror, Netflix can go deep with ads for the series. A new commercial shows off a Netflix Vista implant that lets you watch your favorite shows and movies no matter where you are. You can escape any moment from family dinner to uncomfortable hospital visits by flipping a button and immersing yourself in Vista. The sad/creepy thing is I can see this future happening. Drunk Lin-Manuel. I am all in for the Alexander Hamilton episode of Drunk History. Narrated by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the story will focus on the duel between Hamilton and Aaron Burr. In case you didn’t have it on your calendar: the Hamilton Drunk History installment will air on Tuesday, November 29, at 10:30pm ET/PT on Comedy Central. “If you don’t know, now you know…” [Playbill]

Just Anne. Netflix and CBC’s adaptation of Anne of Green Gables has an official name: Anne. Plain and simple. I like it. They’ve also added three new cast members: Dalila Bela, Corinne Koslo, Aymeric Jett Montaz as Diana Barry, Rachel Lynde, and Jerry Baynard, respectively. [Deadline]

Gilmore Attire. Gilmore Girls‘ costume designer Brenda Maben returned for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. From what we’ve seen in the trailer, many of the characters are still donning similar styles as the last time we were in Stars Hollow–except for Emily Gilmore wearing a t-shirt. Vulture talked with Maben about some of the looks in the revival, and you can check it out right this way.

Recap Catch-Up. Sometimes Mondays are worth revisiting, and that’s the case with our recaps. Go back in time and read our recaps of Timeless, Supergirl, and Gotham.

How do you think Supergirl will fit into the crossover? Tell me your thoughts in the comments.
