Hey, wanna buy some 22-year light bulbs? No? Then Jeff Goldblum is here to change your mind.
The Jurassic Park and Independence Day star appears in this General Electric ad, “Enhancing Your Lighting,” for directors Eric Warheim and Tim Heidecker (of Tim and Eric fame, naturally). The duo gets the actor in the hot tub for a little informercial about the virtues of the wi-fi controlled, long-lasting GE Link.
Playing the suave “Terry Quattro,” Goldblum dons the gold smoking jacket and bouffant ‘do of a man of leisure – one whose life has been markedly improved by General Electric’s new range of eco-friendly light bulbs.
This isn’t Goldblum’s first dalliance with Tim and Eric: the actor has appeared on Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! hawking the Cinco Corp folly, Waitmate. Earlier this year he rejoined his Life Aquatic director Wes Anderson for The Grand Budapest Hotel and he’s got some semi-regular stints going with IFC’s Portlandia.
As for Tim and Eric, this isn’t their first directing gig. Besides working behind the camera on their own Adult Swim series (Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories being the latest), the duo has a feature film under their belt (Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie), and they’ve made the move to music videos including a clip from Tobacco’s “Streaker” earlier this year from Eric.
“For an embarrassingly small amount of money, you can kiss your horribly lit, unsuccessful life goodbye,” enthuses Quattro in the two minute ad. Now I kind of want some $15 light bulbs. Thanks, Tim and Eric and Jeff!

If that man wasn’t born to star in a Barry Manilow biopic, I’ll eat my hat
Jeff Goldblum is awesome. Eat a bag of dicks if you think otherwise.
Worthless fucking shills.
How dare they try to make money in their chosen profession!
