Jeff Goldblum gained viral glory as one of the Thunder God’s antagonists in Thor: Ragnarok, but it was the other who was a true powerhouse: Cate Blanchett‘s Hela. A woman scorned and erased from the Asgardian narrative while her significantly less-powerful brothers got all the glory, she brought to the table a compelling motive, great and frightening powers, and the willingness to use them in a genocidal fashion. Unsurprisingly, the Hasbro Marvel Legends action figure of her was extremely popular, and commands anywhere from $50-$75 on the secondary market.
Enter Mezco. The One: 12 Collective rendition of Blanchett’s death goddess is also in the 6-inch scale, but with higher-end costuming and accessories; considering after-market prices, the $80 price tag on this one is reasonable. Packed with both the “antlered” head and the more goth-like long-haired version, this Hela also includes eight hands, two swords, and a display base.
Mezco already have an Arena Thor and Gladiator Hulk figure, so here’s hoping they continue. Valkyrie, Korg, and perhaps even a Grandmaster would be welcome additions to the line. We’d hate to even speculate what an in-scale Surtur would cost, but it’d be cool to see one anyway.
And while we’re on a female villain kick, how about a Hannah John-Kamen Ghost figure? Nobody’s announced one of those yet. A clear “phasing” variant would practically double-sell itself.
Somehow we think Hela would approve.
