This Week at NerdMelt Theater!

It’s the fourth week of August, which means we get to celebrate fun holidays like Thailand National Science Day! We’re also celebrating another amazing week of shows here at NerdMelt Theater so stop on by!

Friday at 8:00 is Harmontown!

Yup, that’s right, it’s weekly! Attend a town meeting in a land free of brevity, where Mayor Dan Harmon (creator of Community) and Comptroller Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line is it Anyway) take another small, vodka-soaked step toward colonizing the moon. Evening may include ineffectual rants, songs, shameful stories, special guests (Allison Brie, Donald Glover, and Gillian Jacobs have all stopped in), forehead sweat and repeated exposure to the phrases “like” , “uh”, “sort of” and “you know.”

$10!

Sunday at 5:00 is The Nerdist Writers Panel: Key & Peele!

The Nerdist Writers Panel series is an informal chat moderated by Ben Blacker (co-creator of The Thrilling Adventure Hour; writer for Supah Ninjas, Supernatural, among others) with professional writers about the process and business of writing. Covering TV, film, comic books, music, novels, and any other kind of writing about which you care to hear.

On the afternoon of Sunday, August 19th, come down to The Nerdist Theatre at Meltdown Comics to catch the writers of Key & Peele discuss the process of making Comedy Central’s new hit sketch show.

The writers scheduled to appear are: Rebecca Drysdale, Colton Dunn, Keegan-Michael Key,
Jay Martel, Jordan Peele, Ian Roberts, Alex Rubens, Charlie Sanders, and Rich Talarico!

The line-up is subject to change. And as always, proceeds from the live panels benefit 826LA, the national non-profit tutoring program.

$15!

Sunday at 7:00 is Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.

Free!

Monday at 8:00 is yet another Harmontown!

$10!

Wednesday at 8:30 is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail!

This week Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani host Katie Crown, Rove McManus, Robert Buscemi, Neal Brennan, from NYC, Team Submarine, Jim Hamilton, from NYC, Noah Garfinkel and Steve Agee!

$8!

Friday at 8:00 is IMPRO(vs)TANDUP!

IMPRO(vs)TANDUP brings the best improvisers and stand-up comedians together for one incredible show. Watch improvisers and stand ups do what they do best and then switch it up and try their hand at what the other does best. And best of all, the audience determines which discipline wins the night, improv or stand up.
Hosted by Christian Spicer (Weekend Confirmed, Double Jump) and Rajan Dharni (PBS, Eleanor)! Featuring improv team Heather & Miles (Record setting 29-0 UCB Cagematch champs)
vs. stand up comedians Guy Branum (Chelsea Lately, X-Play), Nicholas Rutherford (Good Neighbor), & Michael Kosta (Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Conan, Comedy Central Presents)!

Watch Heather & Miles perform some gold-standard long form improv and Guy, Nicholas, and Michael bring the heat with their best sets… then watch them reverse roles as they compete to take home the night’s championship.

$8 in advance, $10 at the door!

Thank you all so much for your continued support of the theater. Follow us on Twitter and track us on our blog for more info about any of these shows!
