Art, laughs, an anniversary, and so much more: It’s going to be a great week at the NerdMelt Showroom at Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles with the grand opening of the Wes Anderson inspired art exhibition, the debut of All Growz Up, plus Horrible Movie Night, The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, and so much more. March 8th 7-10pm it’s Wes Andershow: WES ANDERSHOW: An Artistic Tribute to the Films of Wes Anderson!

Let’s get into it! The Wes Andershow is an artistic celebration of the prolific filmmaker’s movies, characters and works, brought to you by over 75 talented artists from around the industry. You are cordially invited to join us for the opening reception, 7pm-10pm, Saturday, March 8, 2014!

Enjoy free beer and wine, along with Wes Anderson-themed entertainment, decor, and photo ready backdrops! If you’ve got some lightning in you, or even if you’ve just always wanted to be a Tenenbaum, then you’re not going to want to miss this fantastic evening.

March 9th at 5pm it’s Nerdist Writer’s Panel!

The Nerdist Writers Panel series is an informal chat moderated by Ben Blacker (co-creator of The Thrilling Adventure Hour; writer for Supah Ninjas, Supernatural, among others) with professional writers about the process and business of writing. Covering TV, film, comic books, music, novels, and any other kind of writing about which you care to hear.

March 9th, welcome special guests Clark Gregg (writer/director: Choke; Trust Me; actor: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD), Dan Bucatinsky (co-creator, Web Therapy; actor: Scandal), and more!

The line-up is subject to change. And as always, a portion of the proceeds from the live panels benefit 826LA, a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles that supports students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills.

March 9th at 8pm it’s Hilarity For Charity!

Hilarity for Charity (HFC) is a movement led by comedian Seth Rogen to inspire change and raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease among the millennial generation.

HFC takes a new approach to fighting a terrible disease. For two years, our successful Los Angeles HFC Variety Show has entertained young, hip professionals through evenings filled with music and comedy while creating the next generation of Alzheimer’s advocates – not to mention serving up some delicious food and raising almost $1 million!

How do you get involved, you ask? Come laugh with us! Join Hilarity for Charity and your host, Jamar Neighbors, as we present the best stand up comedians while raising money for the HFC Fund! Have a laugh, receive top-level karma, and buy your way into heaven!

Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani helm the good ship Meltdown every single Wednesday, to host the show that’s been named one of the best live shows in LA by LA Weekly, Splitsider, and more. At The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, you’ll see some of the biggest comics, up and coming acts just before they get famous, and as always, surprise drop-ins that will knock your socks off.

This week, Jonah and Kumail welcome Baron Vaughn, Beth Stelling, Julian McCullough, Katie Crown, Moshe Kasher, and Anthony Jeselnik.

March 13th at 7pm it’s March Madness!

In honor of the NCAA Basketball Tournament, 100s and eventually 64 bracketed comedians will go one-on-one in the 8th Annual March Comedy Madness single elimination comedy competition refereed by Josh Filipowski of Like2Laugh.com. In the first round, two comedians perform their best minute of stand-up head-to-head and then the audience, by applause, decides the winner. As the field is narrowed down, the sets get longer and more hilarious, until we crown the 2014 March Comedy Madness Champion!

Past winners include: Julian McCullough (Comedy Central Presents), Reese Waters (Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham), Myq Kaplan (NBC’s Last Comic Standing), Sam Morril (Comedy Central’s Comic to Watch), Samba Schutte (NBC’s Fatal Encounters), Adam Yenser (Conan) and Nick Cobb (Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham)!

This show is more than a show. It’s your show. Matt Bennett (Victorious, The Virginity Hit) and Moses Storm present a night featuring Matt, Moses and friends, and even some special guests, for an hour of standup, sketch, music, interviews, and more.

All Growz Up with Melinda Hill is the popular Huffington Post web series that explores what comedians & writers wanted to be when they grew up. It’s an insightful journey into the little minds that became the big minds we love today. Join us for the first live show, which will include interviews and a “show and tell” segment.

March 14th at 9pm it’s Horrible Movie Night!

Shout at the movies! We screen the worst films you’ve never seen, and invite YOU to roast them — the best one-liners of the night will win prizes. If you like MST3K and RiffTrax, this is your scene!

Your hosts for the evening, John Mathot (Disney’s Phineas & Ferb), and Susan Wright (The Because Show podcast) will present 1984’s Voyage of the Rock Aliens.  It’s a bizarre mix of sci-fi, comedy, and music, featuring singing aliens, asinine robots, and gigantic hair.

There’ll be comedy from Kyle Kinane (Comedy Central) & Christian Spicer (SketchMelt, IMPRO(vs)STANDUP), and also FREE POPCORN!  Beam yourself on down to the show!
