This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown

This week is one of our biggest and busiest yet, so if you live in LA, stay tuned to find out what you’ll be doing for the next seven days. Also, we can’t get enough of The Nerdist in LA Weekly, so if haven’t clicked yet, CLICK!

Tonight, we have The Imaginary Radio Program at 8pm!

Can we all agree that the radio is pretty terrible? The Imaginary Radio Program is the anti-radio. Brought to you by some of the best comics in the scene, the radio will be dissected station by station, parodied and brought to it’s knees in this hilarious musical comedy extravaganza.

Presented by Destructo! Hosted by Drennon Davis, and featuring Aisha Tyler, Moshe Kasher, Brent Weinbach, Joe Wengert, and Janet Varney.

Tickets are $10, get them here!

Saturday, May 21st, we have Meltdown Movie Night with Jonah and Kumail at 8:30pm

Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani get so many amazing short video submissions to be played at The Meltdown on Wednesdays that they decided to dedicate a whole night to some of our favorites. Come settle in, have some popcorn, and watch the boys host some of the weirdest, funniest, and best short film submissions from people just like you! (Or actually you) Videos from Jordan VogtRoberts, Fatal Farm, Cream, and more!

$10, and you can attend by clicking here!

Sunday, May 22nd brings you the Nerdist Writers Series at 5pm.

Join us almost every Sunday in May to watch esteemed panelists discuss topics like different types of writing, how they got started, what inspires them, the business side of writing, and more. Panelists will also answer your questions and give some helpful tips and tricks! For those wishing to write for television or the movies, novels, music, comic books, and more, this series is a must, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit 826LA. This week, host Ben Blacker discuss songwriting, and welcomes Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins, Dan Bern, and Michael Penn.

Tickets are $15 for one panel, $36 when you buy them in bulk!

Then after the panel, stick around on Sunday May 22nd for Matt Mira’s Day Off at 7:30!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host comics of all types as they test out material never before said out loud. Also, if you’re a comic, come and test out your newest material on the Nerdist Theater at Meltdown stage! It’ll be a blast.

FREE!

Monday, May 23rd ushers in the birth of Harmontown at 8pm.

Join Dan Harmon, creator of NBC’s Community, for an unflinching glimpse into the deep, dark, vodka filled craters of his moon-sized mind.  Evening may include ineffectual rants, embarrassing stories and a more or less failed attempt to come off like Spalding Gray.

Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased here.

Wednesday, May 25th is The Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail at 8:30!

Jonah Ray and Kumail Nanjiani host some of the best comics in the universe at this weekly showcase. This week, they welcome Rob Delaney, Tom McCaffrey, Sean Conroy, Jamie Lee, and Maria Bamford!

$8 for all this, and you can get them here!

We round out the week with a Nerdist Podcast LIVE on Thursday, May 26th.

Join the Nerdist boys as they welcome a very special guest in the form of Robert Kirkman. Best known for his work on Marvel Zombies, Invincible, and The Walking Dead (now an AMC TV show), this comic book legend will sit down with the boys in the back of a comic book store turned theater and discuss whatever comes up. After the panel, stick around for a signing with Kirkman!

Tickets are $10 and can be begotten right here.

Stay tuned to our ticket page and to NerdMelt on Twitter to find out first where the all the fun is located.
