This Week at Nerdist Theater at Meltdown!

Sometimes we wish we would have gone back to school to become doctors, but then we look out at the audience of people laughing and enjoying themselves, and we realize that we’re doing some good, even if we’re not reattaching people’s limbs. But I digress.

Tonight at 8pm, it’s the opening reception for The Art of Kung Fu!

To celebrate the coming Chinese New Year (the Year of the Dragon!), ISM has reworked sixteen myths and legends and paired each one with sixteen different artists and illustrators from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds. Each was asked to work solely in black ink on white paper to create pieces that honored the tradition of kung fu manuals, and you can see the results yourself- tonight!

Saturday at 8pm, it’s the return of Star Dreck!

Kumail Nanjiani and Matt Mira are huge Trekkies, but even they have to admit that some of them just don’t hold up. Join them as they introduce you to some of the worst Star Trek episodes in existence, and then proceed to rip them to shreds. With the help of Tom Lennon and Paul Scheer, will they boldly go where no fan has gone before?

Sunday at 7pm, it’s Matt Mira’s Day Off!

Matt Mira of the Nerdist Podcast needs a Day Off, so we decided to give him Sundays at Nerdist Theater. Come watch Mira and Paul Cibis host this comedy free-for-all. You’ll see brand new comics, comics you know and love trying out new material (Chris Hardwick and Kumail Nanjiani are frequent drop ins), and the magic that is live comedy.
